Police search for man shot in leg
POTTSTOWN >> Police are investigating a shooting Tuesday night that left one man injured.
At approximately 10:41 p.m., police officers responded to the area of the 500 Block of Lesher Alley between North Washington Street and North Warren Street for a report of multiple shots fired.
Upon arrival, property damage was located including a vehicle in the alley but no victims was found, police said.
Police said ballistic evidence was located in the alley which indicated that multiple shots were fired from more than one weapon.
While the scene was being investigated, police were notified by Pottstown Hospital that there was a subject at the hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound to
the leg.
The victim, identified by police as Marquice Collier, 21, of Darby, Delaware County, told officers he was walking in the area, heard shots and fled. Collier stated he was struck in the leg while running from the sound of the shots.
In an updated notice Wednesday, police said, “Information developed that Collier’s wound may have been self-inflicted.”
They added that Collier was transported from the Pottstown Hospital to the Reading Hospital in West Reading. He subsequently left the Reading Hospital prior to detectives arriving to interview him, police said.
Police are now asking that anyone who knows Marquice Collier and where he may be located, or anyone with information in regard to the shooting incident contact the Pottstown Police Department at 610-970-6570.
