POTTSTOWN >> Authorities have arrested two suspects and are seeking two more in the March murder of a Pottstown man.

Jaquan Marquis Lee, 26, and Kyshan Scott Brinkley, 23, have been arrested and charged with first degree murder and other offenses related to the slaying of 41-year-old Pottstown resident Keith Robinson in March. Police are also looking for Derrick Goins, 26, and Elijah Davis, 18, in relation to the shooting.

According to an affidavit of probable cause, police were dispatched to Walnut Street and York Street at around 10:50 p.m. on March 30, 2019. Upon arrival, officers found victim, Keith Robinson, 41, of Pottstown, inside his vehicle in the driver’s seat suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Detectives processed the scene and determined that Robinson was parked in front of 126 N. York St.

and that suspects had fired through the passenger window of the vehicle. Detectives found nine .40 caliber fired cartridge casings next to the passenger side of the vehicle. Additionally, detectives located a “RAW” brand, size small, black jacket inside a trashcan at 47 Beech St., as well as one .40 caliber fired cartridge casing on the road near the trashcan.

An autopsy report determined that Robinson died as a result of multiple gunshot wounds and the manner of death was ruled homicide. During the autopsy, the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office recovered two bullets from Robinson’s body.

The criminal complaint outlined the connection between Brinkley, Lee, Davis and Goins to the firearms, shooting location and victim. Video surveillance placed Goins and the other three defendants at the scene, according to the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office.

During the investigation, detectives secured surveillance footage from the surrounding area. Videos of the area depicted a male dressed in dark pants and a jacket walking west on Walnut Street toward the intersection of York Street. A few moments later, the male is observed running east on Walnut Street, behind Foundry Apartments toward Beech Street. Other surveillance caught audio of 10 gunshots being fired in rapid succession.

Additional surveillance footage of the scene shows a black minivan with distinctive hubcaps traveling west on Walnut Street at 10:45 p.m. on March 30.

According to the affidavit of probable cause:

“The movements of the black minivan, captured on video surveillance are consistent with known locations of the operator, Jaquan ‘Swizz’ Lee. Lee is seen operating this van at Chestnut Street and Evans Street prior to the homicide. The van is then observed driving by the victim, Keith Robinson, twice before the shooting. Seven minutes after the shooting the van is seen arriving at 206 Manatawny St., an area known to be frequented by Jaquan ‘Swizz’ Lee and his associates.”

Police also allege that on Friday, March 29, Derrick Goins rented a black Dodge Caravan from a rental location in Pottstown. The vehicle was rented on March 29, 2019, and returned on April 2.

Throughout the investigation, detectives learned about an active joint investigation by the Montgomery County Detectives and the Pottstown Police Department. The investigation focused on a home-grown gang operating in Pottstown called the “Bud Gang Bitch” or the BGB Gang. Police say the gang is in reference to Jordan Scott, who was shot to death on July 7, 2017, in Norristown. Scott’s nickname, according to authorities, was “Bud.”

Police identified several members of the alleged BGB gang as well as their alleged base of operations at 206 Manatawny St. Police believe the group is committing criminal offenses involving illegal drug trafficking and illegally possessing firearms.

Police say members of the gang have also produced several rap music videos in which members discuss illegal drugs and scenes and reference the BGB gang. Additionally, police say, the videos show stairwells that appear similar to those from apartment buildings at 206 Manatawny St. or 7 Beech St. In one scene, “C2” can be seen on the apartment door, according to court documents.

On Wednesday, April 3, police executed a search warrant on 206 Manatawny St., apartment C2. Detectives recovered assorted ammunition, a loaded Colt .45 semi-automatic pistol and a Glock magazine containing .40 caliber S&W CBC brand ammunition. The .40 caliber ammunition is the the same market brand as seven of the 10 recovered fire cartridge cases at the homicide scene, according to police.

Police also investigated the possibility of straw gun purchases by alleged members of the gang. According to an affidavit of probable cause, police reviewed surveillance footage from a firearms store in Pottstown that revealed on March 19, several straw purchases were made. Police said sales receipts from that date indicated that a FNH Five Seven, 4.8 inch barrel, semiautomatic handgun was purchased for $1,388.59 in addition to a Glock 27, Gen 3, .40 caliber semiautomatic handgun for $445.19. In surveillance footage, police allege Lee can be seen selecting two magazines and handing them to another individual for purchase. They included a Glock 22, .40 caliber 15 rounds and a G23, .40 caliber, 13 rounds.

Montgomery County Detective Eric Nelson, an expert in the area of Ballistics and Firearms opined that the Glock 27, Gen 3, .40 caliber semiautomatic handgun that was purchased on March 19 is known to produce firing pin impressions consistent with the firing pin impressions observed on the fired cartridge cases recovered at the scene of the homicide.

Following their investigation, the Presentment by the Montgomery County Grand Jury recommended charges of firstdegree murder, conspiracy to commit murder, possessing an instrument of crime and other related charges against all four defendants. The District Attorney’s Office then filed the charges, and Brinkley and Lee were arrested and arraigned on July 26, 2019, before Magisterial District Judge Edward C. Kropp Sr.

No bail is available for first-degree murder, and both defendants were remanded to the Montgomery County Correctional Facility. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 9 a.m., Aug. 26, 2019, before District Judge Scott T. Palladino.

Arrest warrants for Davis and Goins have been issued. The men are considered dangerous. If they are spotted, members of the public should call 911.
