READING >> A Delaware County man will serve seven years of probation and have to register as a sexual offender for 10 years for having inappropriate contact with a 14-yearold girl at a Berks County church in 2006.

Jonathan S. Buchanan, 36, of Radnor Township, was sentenced Tuesday by Berks County Judge Eleni Dimitriou Geishauser for corruption of minors and indecent assault. He had pleaded guilty in April.

At the time of the plea, Buchanan admitted he was about 24 years old when he had indecent contact with the girl in October 2006, but he did not admit to any of the specific details of the assault.

In the charging documents, authorities said the girl was assaulted during a church group function in Sinking Spring and after in Buchanan’s vehicle. According to authorities: The assault occurred while the girl was taking part in a dress rehearsal for a programat the church. The victim told police Buchanan was a “technical guy” who was assisting with the rehearsal.

The victim said Buchanan asked her to help him take some equipment upstairs from a downstairs office area but he sexually assaulted her when they went to the basement.

Buchanan assaulted her again after the rehearsal when he drove her to a secluded parking lot.

The charges against Buchanan stem from a complaint received through Childline and a report from county children and youth service.
