St. John’s Lutheran Church to host Oxford Trio concert
PHOENIXVILLE >> St. John’s Lutheran Church will host The Oxford Trio in concert at 4 p.m. on Sunday Sept. 29.
The chamber ensemble is comprised of Katie Slauch-Boozer, violin, Julia Farber, horn, and Nancy Pedrick, piano. Julia and Nancy are sisters, and Katie is their cousin. The three have entertained audiences for well over a decade with their unique instrumentation and varied repertoire at community concerts, patriotic celebrations, church services and weddings in the Oxford Area.
The concert repertoire will be divided into segments of classical, sacred, Americana, and pop.
The classical portion will include the Allegretto movement from Jean Nisle’s (1782) Trio op.20, Chanson Georgienne by Rachmaninov, and Charles Koechlin’s Quatre Petites Pieces.
The sacred portion will include Three American Hymn Preludes, along with spirituals, and arrangements of familiar hymn tunes. The Americana section is made up of American Folk Rhapsody by Spevacek, Goin’ Down to Cairo, and a haunting arrangement of the Revolutionary War ballad, Johnny Has Gone For a Soldier. In the pop segment, the audience will be taken on a musical trip across the United States, filled with fun musical memories and a few surprises.
There is no admission charge although a free-will offering will be received.
