Joseph E. Sparano, 92, a lifelong resident of Phoenixvil­le, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 21, 2019 at Seasons Hospice & Palliative Care Center.

Born on September 4, 1927 he was the son of the late Joseph & Dorothy (Valentine) Sparano. He was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Pearl R. Sparano (Fetterman).

A U. S. Navy Veteran, Joe was a devout catholic and member of St. Ann’s church and the Knights of Columbus.

Joe was an avid bowler and continued league bowling up until last May. In the 1960s, he was a coach of P.M.Y.C. and St. Ann’s youth basketball teams. Joe’s favorite season was summer and he loved spending time with his family and friends in Sea Isle City, NJ, and the many family picnics and get-togethers.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfathe­r, great grandfathe­r, brother, uncle, and dear friend to everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him and he will be missed by many.

Joe is survived by his two children, Joseph (Patricia) Sparano, and Sherry (Ralph) Zwakenberg; sisters-in-law Virginia Domarosky, Mabel Schutz, Sara Rudzik and Sandra Fetterman; grandchild­ren, Courtney (Fran) Gould, Brad (Vanessa) Zwakenberg, and Chris (Hannah) Zwakenberg; great-grandchild­ren, Riley, Sloane and Isaiah. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews who will also miss his smile and always happy mood.

In addition to his parents and spouse, he was preceded in death by his six siblings, James, Michael, Anthony, Lewis and Carl Sparano and Rachel Cote.

The family would like to thank all nurses and care-givers at Seasons Hospice and Palliative Care Center at Phoenixvil­le Hospital for the care and respect given Joe during his final days.

Family and friends are invited to attend the memorial mass for Joe at 11:00AM on Tuesday, October 1, 2019, at Sacred Heart Church, 148 Church Street, Phoenixvil­le PA 19460. Family and friends will be received from 10:00AM11:00AM at the church. Burial will take place following the services in the St. Ann’s Cemetery.
