Rams, Phantoms, Bears pick up PAC wins

SPRING-FORD 7, POTTSGROVE 0 >> Fresh from their dominant showing in the PAC Individual Tournament this past weekend, the Rams resumed dual-match play by sweeping the Falcons Tuesday.

Cady Krause, the league’s champion, led at first singles alongside fellow District 1-AAA qualfiers Isabel Mejia and Riley Burke. Pottsgrove’s best individual showing came at first singles, where Mya Krueger won six games. PHOENIXVIL­LE 5, UPPER PERKIOMEN 2 >> The Phantoms took three of four doubles duels in straight sets Tuesday on the way to a PAC victory over the Indians.

Phoenixvil­le’s best individual showing came at second singles, where Michelle Richter won 6-1, 6-0. For UP, Maddy Gochnauer had a tiebreaker win at first singles before Sianni Camarata and Makenna Phipps won at fourth doubles. BOYERTOWN 4, UPPER MERION 3 >> A sweep of the singles bracket proved vital for the Bears to get past the Vikings in Tuesday’s PAC match.

Olivia Vangelli’s 6-0, 6-0 win at third singles was the individual highlight for Boyertown. UM took two of the doubles in tiebreaker­s, the third in three sets. POPE JOHN PAUL II 5, OWEN J. ROBERTS 2 >> Vernoica Marinarri, Cara Semach and Tess Crossan swept the singles matches in PJP’s PAC win on Tuesday.

The doubles teams of Kayla Ciuba/Kelly Paris and Sydney Farnsworth/ Arianna McGrory picked up PJP’s other two points.

Jordan Sylvia/Allie Iyoob and Alexis Carr/Claire Feltenberg­er scored for OJR.

Boys Soccer

OWEN J. ROBERTS 4, METHACTON 2 >> After a 1-1 score at halftime, OJR scored three unanswered goals in the second half on its way to the PAC Liberty victory Monday.

Ethan Gawlik and Ethan Williams tallied a goal and an assist each. Austin Chambers and Kyle Storti rounded out OJR’s scoring and Gavin Zorn had an assist. Zeb Smith made six saves for the Wildcats. SPRING-FORD 2, PERKIOMEN VALLEY 0 >> The Rams grabbed a first-half lead and added an insurance goal in the second on the way to a PAC Liberty win Monday.

Tommy Bodenschat­z and Brandon Duke scored the Spring-Ford goals, and Colin Trainor had an assist. Tommy McPoyle saved four shots for the Rams.

Josh Moyer kept PV in the game with nine saves as Spring-Ford put 13 shots on goal. DANIEL BOONE 4, MUHLENBERG 1 >> The Blazers (2-3, 5-5) scored three goals in the second half Monday to break it open against the Muhls.

Jason Bliss, Justin Fetrow, Cian Picierello and Max Stefanelli scored for Boone. Caleb Rahn was credited with two assists and Daniel Salguero one, and Danny Krystopa needed to stop just one shot at goal.

Field Hockey

OWEN J. ROBERTS 5, METHACTON 2 >> Maddi Koury (two goals) and Julia Lamb (goal, two assists) helped OJR deliver the Warriors their first Pioneer Athletic Conference Liberty loss Monday.

Rylee Laloup and Olivia LeClaire added goals for OJR, and Cayden Jarvis made three saves in goal.

Liz Chipman and Elena Snodgrass tallied the Methacton scores off an assist from Bayla Plower. Kelly O’Donnell and Sarah Woolston combined for six saves, and Jess Serafin added a defensive save. BOYERTOWN 7, NORRISTOWN 0>> Lauren Eves, Alaina Schmid, Kylie Heffentrag­er, Remi Lloyd, Katelyn Dulin, Maddy Rhodes and Mackenzie Baro scored in the Bears’ Pioneer Athletic Conference Liberty win Monday.

Schmid, Eves, Lloyd, Heffentrag­er and Lydia Jones tallied assists for Boyertown.

Girls Soccer

POTTSGROVE 5, PHOENIXVIL­LE 1 >> Skylar Glass paced the Falcons with two goals in the PAC Frontier win Monday.

Lexi Zook, Becca Delp and Lana Song also scored for Pottsgrove, while Emily Vishio and Regina Greco picked up assists. Summer Walker had three saves and Allison Dixon added another.

Ava Labik scored Phoenixvil­le’s goal off an assist from Alex Perrotto. Ella Stout made nine saves. METHACTON 3, OWEN J. ROBERTS 2 >> The Warriors scored three first-half goals in Monday’s PAC Liberty win.

Madia Mazzucola scored in the third minute before assisting on Kate Evans’ goal later in the half. Julia McCann scored Methacton’s third goal off an assist from Evans.

Methacton freshman goalkeeper Mairi Smith had 10 saves. UPPER PERKIOMEN 4, POTTSTOWN 0 >> Upper Perk tallied twice in each half for the PAC Frontier win.

Sammie Kozminski, Kyra Lesko, Avery Diehl and Mary Kate Sitko each tallied goals, while Hannah Keeney and Emily Schaut registered two assists each.

Hannah Landis and Giana Deskevich combined for the shutout in goal, the team’s fifth straight, improving their record to 9-3-0. PERKIOMEN SCHOOL 3, BARRACK HEBREW 0 >> The Panthers came on strong in the second half of their TriCounty League win over Barrack Hebrew Tuesday, scoring all their goals in the stretch.

Perkiomen midfield Rianne Moll scored off of a pass from Naomi Knight. Then Cece Vassallo scored off of a pass from her sister Sasha Vassallo, and the game ended with Cheyenne McCloud’s tally. Abbey Glavin had 5 saves in the net for the Panthers to record the clean sheet.

Girls Volleyball

POPE JOHN PAUL II 3, NORRISTOWN 0 >> The Eagles took the Golden Panthers to extra point in the second set Monday, but the Golden Panthers stayed perfect with a straight sets win of 25-7, 29-27 and 25-14.

Hanna Tulli led PJP with 11 kills, followed by Haley Spots (10), Sarah Ward (9) and Heather Lesinski (7). Ward added four aces.

Chelsea Harvey had 37 assists for PJP, while Tea Pasquale (15) and Jessie Donovan (11) combined for 26 digs. BOYERTOWN 3, OWEN J. ROBERTS 0 >> The Bears swept the Wildcats 25-9, 25-18 and 25-20 for the Pioneer Athletic Conference Liberty win Monday. Topping the stat sheet for the Bears was Emily Wolfe with 13 kills, Adrianna Derstine with nine digs, eight kills and four aces. Emma Ludwig added 16 assists for the Bears who are now 10-1 overall and undefeated in league action. SPRING-FORD 3, PHOENIXVIL­LE 0 >> The Rams swept the Phantoms 25-12, 25-8 and 25-11 for the Pioneer Athletic Conference win.

Alexa Grammersto­rf had four kills and eight digs, Avery Stackhouse had a kill and two digs, and LeiLu Campbell had seven digs for Phoenixvil­le.

West Chester Rustin 3, Perkiomen Valley 1 >> The Vikings dropped a nonleague four-setter to Rustin on Monday.

Allie Haflett had (nine kills, one assist), Isabel Clauhs (eight kills, one block) and Naomi Clauhs (12 assists, five kills) were PV’s stat leaders. METHACTON 3, POTTSGROVE 0 >> The Warriors picked up the Pioneer Athletic Conference win in straight sets, 2511, 25-23, 25-9, on Monday.

Sydney Zerbe led Methacton with eight kills, followed by Melinda Eglinton and Claire Claudy, who added seven kills. Meghan Haftl had 28 assists, and Elly Brunt added 21 digs. Alli Hazlett tallied five kills, a dig and two blocks.

Boys’ Golf

PERKIOMEN SCHOOL 265, DELAWARE COUNTY CHRISTIAN 288 >> The Panthers improved to 2-1 on the season with a win at Applebrook Golf Club. Low scores for Perkiomen were Ben Griffaton (46) and Alexa Eisenbeis (51).
