Phoenixvil­le, PJP boys lock PAC spots

PHOENIXVIL­LE 74, UPPER PERKIOMEN 54 >> The Phantoms (7-1 Frontier, 7-5 PAC) locked up one of the Pioneer Athletic Conference’s six playoff spots with their 74-54 win over Upper Perkiomen on Tuesday.

While Steven Hamilton and Michael Memmo scored a combined 35 points to key the Phantoms in their PAC Frontier Division game over the Indians, Phoenixvil­le manager Chris Romney’s late bucket was the highlight of the game, drawing a large celebratio­n from the Phoenixvil­le sideline.

Memmo’s 18-point effort put him one up on Hamilton’s 17. Will Allain also hit double figures for Phoenixvil­le, netting 11, while Sean Boyle got a game-high 23 for UP.

POPE JOHN PAUL II 58, POTTSTOWN 57 >> A bigger longdistan­ce shooting game made the difference for the Golden Panthers (8-0 Frontier, 10-2 PAC) in Tuesday’s narrow PAC Frontier Division game with the Trojans (4-4 Frontier, 5-7 PAC).

PJP sank seven 3-point baskets to Pottstown’s one, Drew McKeon getting nine of his 11 from the far side of the arc. Jaden Workman (14), Luke McCarthy (13) and David Smrek (11) also hit “threes” for PJP, which clinched a PAC playoff spot.

Pottstown got doublefigu­re scoring from Robert Burress (17), Tre’ Bass (13) and Darius Smallwood (10). METHACTON 81, NORRISTOWN 52 >> The Warriors (9-0 Liberty, 13-0 PAC) defeated the Eagles (5-4 Liberty, 8-4 PAC) in Tuesday’s

PAC Liberty Division matchup, locking up a division crown for the first time since 2014-15 in the process.

Erik Timko led with 25 points, Jeff Woodward added 15 and Owen Kropp and Cole Hargrove chipped in 13 each.

UPPER MERION 51, POTTSGROVE 47 >> The Vikings rode a big offensive output in the fourth quarter to a comeback victory over the Falcons in Tuesday’s PAC Frontier Division game.

With Nick Shepperd (14 points) heading a trio of double-figure scorers — Ty Jones kicked in 12, Collin Bowman 10 — UM rebounded from a 33-29 deficit after three quarters. Pottsgrove’s offense was headed by Luke Kaiser with 11 and Thompson with 10. SPRING-FORD 69, OWEN J. ROBERTS 47 >> Patrick Kovaleski paced the Rams in a PAC Liberty win over OJR on Tuesday.

Tre Medearis and Tyler Scilingo added 13 apiece for Spring-Ford. Gus Coroniti led OJR with 15, followed by 10 from Jalen Lucas.

Spring-Ford (5-3 Liberty, 9-3 PAC) can lock up a spot in the league postseason with a crossover win over Upper Merion on Thursday.

POTTSGROVE 59, UPPER MERION 24 >> The Falcons used Tuesday’s big win over the Vikings to clinch first place in the Pioneer Athletic Conference’s Frontier Division.

Pottsgrove (9-0 division, 11-2 PAC) combined balanced offense and tight defense in the middle frames to sew up the Frontier’s top spot. Riley Simon led the way with her 11-point outing, followed in close order by Rachel Ludwig (10), Jaimi Makins (nine) — all off shots from 3-point range — and Sierra Potts (eight).

Defensivel­y, the Falcons limited UM to a combined eight points in the second ahd third quarters. They built on a 28-4 lead in the first quarter with 24 over the METHACTON 61, NORRISTOWN 18 >> Nicole Timko headed a trio of double-figure scorers who fueled the Warriors’ (6-2 Liberty, 10-2 PAC) potent offense in Tuesday’s PAC Liberty Division game with the Eagles.

Timko scored a gamehigh 19 points, followed by Cassidy Kropp (14) and Sydney Tornetta (12). Tornetta also cleared seven rebounds and made four steals while Caroline Pellicano pulled down eight rebounds. POPE JOHN PAUL II 65, POTTSTOWN 33 >> Tess Crossan turned in a unique double-double in helping the Golden Panthers (6-2 Frontier, 6-6 PAC) roll the Trojans in Tuesday’s PAC Frontier Division game.

Crossan had 10 rebounds and assists for PJP, whose offense was headed by Kayla Viney with 18 points (eight steals), Carly Cabot and Emily Dougherty (10 each). Haley Jackson cleared eight boards for the Panthers while Trinell Watson gave Pottstown a team-high 17 points. PHOENIXVIL­LE 58, UPPER PERKIOMEN 16 >> Aubrie Breisblatt and Nailah Green each outscored the entire Indian roster in leading the Phantoms to victory Tuesday in the PAC’s Frontier Division.

Breisblatt got 10 of her game-high 19 points in Phoenixvil­le’s 21-point first quarter. Green was one back of her teammate with 18. PERKIOMEN SCHOOL 61, RENAISSANC­E 25 >> The Panthers rolled Renaissanc­e

Academy in Tuesday’s TriCounty League game.

Janayshia Brown led all scorers with 19 points. Naomi Knight and Chardae Stone each contribute­d 12 points apiece in the win.

OWEN J. ROBERTS 95, PHOENIXVIL­LE 85 >> Dalton Fink won two individual races Tuesday to help the Wildcats outswim the Phantoms in their PAC meet.

Fink’s firsts came in the 100 fly (51.05) and 100 back (52.29); he also swam the lead leg of Roberts’ winning 200 medley relay (1:42.09). For Phoenixvil­le, Jack Hussin was first in the 200 free (1:44.99) and 500 free (4:54.39) while swimming legs of its first-place 200 free (1:33.67) and 400 free (3:43.42) relays. SPRING-FORD 97, NORRISTOWN 54 >> Cameron Wilson won two individual events to help the Rams dominate the Eagles in Tuesday’s PAC meet.

Wilson headed the 200 free (2:01.09) and 100 back (1:04.60) for Spring-Ford. Norristown got two-win showings from Alex Waskiewicz in the 200 IM (2:18.61) and 100 breast (1:08.20), and Devon Carpenter in the 50 free (23.52) and 100 fly (59.43).

DANIEL BOONE BREAKS EVEN >> The Blazers went 1-1 in Tuesday’s three-school Berks Conference meet with Wilson and Twin Valley. Boone fell to the Bulldogs 114-66 but handled the Raiders 115-28.

Chris Guiliano and Jacob Santos won individual events for the Blazers. Guiliano headed the 200 IM (1:57.78) and the 100 free (46.90), while Santos took the 100 back (58.60);
