Boyertown Junior Woman’s Club collecting gently used prom dresses

BOYERTOWN >> Boyertown Junior Woman’s Club announced it will once again be hosting its local prom dress drive.

Boyertown Junior Women’s Club will be collecting dresses through March 5 for its upcoming Once Upon a Prom event.

The idea behind Once Upon a Prom is that once you’ve had your “once upon a time” moment, you can give another hers. Members recognize that the dress is a huge part of going to prom and unfortunately for some young ladies it is an enormous financial burden. A few years ago, members decided to hold an event that would help provide beautiful prom dresses for those who might not otherwise have the means to purchase them.

This year will be the seventh year Boyertown Junior Woman’s Club is holding the event. Last year over 50 girls attended from local communities. This year Boyertown Junior Woman’s Club is hoping that number rises as they have over 800 dresses in stock.

“We are so thankful for the support of the community in making this a bigger event every year, both by the increasing number of donations, and by helping us reach out to more and more girls. The growing number of happy faces makes this one of our favorite BJWC events,” said Joanne Pritchard, BJWC member.

Girls in junior and senior high from all school districts are welcome to attend the event which will be held on March 7, 8, 14 and 15 from 12 to 4 p.m. at Miracles in Motion, 123 E. Philadelphia Ave., Boyertown (please note the change in address). There is no charge for the dress or accessories. Monetary donations in any amount will be accepted and donated to Boyertown Post Prom.

The ongoing success of this event is dependent on those willing to donate their gently used prom or special occasion dresses. Boyertown Junior Woman’s Club welcomes clean, non-torn dresses of all sizes, both long and short, as well as purses, clutches, jewelry and wraps. Donations are being accepted through March 5 and can be dropped off at Zuber Realty, 201 E. Philadelphia Ave., Boyertown.
