St. John’s UCC

Pottstown — St. John’s UCC, 11 S. Price St., welcomes Ms. Beth Eustis as our guest speaker on Sunday at the 10:15 am service. To celebrate the church’s 100th anniversar­y, members will be performing 100 acts of service throughout the year. St. John’s is housing the homeless during the month of February and with the help of other area churches is providing nightly meals for those seeking shelter. We also continue to collect food to serve children involved in Operation 143. Check out our Facebook page for the delivery that was just made this past week. Sunday School classes are available for all ages and are held at 9:00 am.

Brownback’s UCC

St. Luke Lutheran

Gilbertsvi­lle — Join us at 8:30 on Sunday mornings for our Adult Bible Study group to discuss the readings of the day. We’ll gather for worship at 9:30, a.m. On Sunday we’ll worship and focus on the words of Matthew 5:21-37 – “You have heard I said….” And “But I say to you….” We’ll celebrate communion. Pottstown — Trinity UCC, 60 N. Hanover St., will meet for morning worship at 9:30 AM. Adult Sunday School and Confirmati­on Class will begin at 8:30. Pastor Nichole Jackson will offer a children’s sermon during morning worship. There will be a special meeting of the congregati­on immediatel­y following the service. Votes will be taken on the purchase of a parking lot from Zion’s UCC and the removal of the old elevator at the front of the building. A time of fellowship will follow.

Pottstown — On Monday, Feb. 17, Rev. Austin Chinault ll, Zion’s United Church of Christ, Pottstown, will join 28 ministers for an 11-day Pilgrimage to the Holy Lands sponsored by the Grand Encampment of Knights Templar of the USA. Family and friends send him off with prayers and blessings on this trip of a lifetime. Pastor Chinault ‘s Sunday sermon will be “Your Choice: Good and Evil; Life or Death.” Kira Bartolini will play Beethoven’s “Ode to Joy” as the Offertory piano solo. Confirmand­s will meet at 9;00 am with Pastor Austin and their mentors to work on their stoles led by Mary Cresswell. They are choosing their names, religious symbols and personal interests in a variety of media. They will proudly wear the stoles at their confirmati­on in May. Sydney Schollenbe­rger, a young adult member of Zion’s with a passion for teaching, is planning a service/mission to Guatemala from March 15-20. Sydney notes that her church experience­s have taught her what it means to provide service and assistance to those in need and to show love and acceptance through God’s Word wherever she might go. El Suenos is a non-profit organizati­on that creates aftercare facilities for students who go to the school in the area. Zion’s is proud to help support Sydney raise the $600 she needs for the trip.
