Man fatally shot inside home
COLLEGEVILLE >> A 55-year-old man was found shot to death inside a borough residence and authorities are treating the incident as a homicide investigation.
Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin R. Steele and Collegeville Borough Police Chief
Bart Bucher released initial information about the death Sunday afternoon.
At 11:30 p.m. on Saturday, Collegeville Police responded to 67 E. 3rd Ave. for a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located a male gunshot victim, age 55, inside the residence.
He was pronounced deceased at the scene. An autopsy is being conducted by the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office.
Initial reports are that this homicide occurred when the victim forced his way into the home and was shot by one of the home’s occupants, according to a press release issued by Steele.
“There is no known public safety concern at this time,” the release states. That usually means authorities know who fired the fatal shot and that person is in custody or is cooperating with the investigation.
The identity of the victim is being withheld pending family notification.
