Republican to vie for 150th District House seat

A local magazine publisher has announced her candidacy to run as a Republican in the race for the 150th District seat.

A local magazine publisher has announced her candidacy to run as a Republican in the race for the 150th District seat in the Pennsylvan­ia House of Representa­tives.

Beth Ann Bittner Mazza announced her candidacy Wednesday.

The seat is currently held by Democrat Joseph Webster who is serving his first term.

“As a longtime resident of the district, local small businesswo­man and dedicated community leader, I truly care about the place we call home and the values we share,” Bittner Mazza said in a press release announcing her candidacy.

“I was honored and humbled to receive the Montgomery County Republican Committee’s endorsemen­t. The hardworkin­g families and residents of the 150th District can trust me to fight for the issues they care about the most,” she said.

“My priorities will be those of the people in our community — keeping our area affordable for families and seniors, securing more funding for education and infrastruc­ture, combating the opioid epidemic and making our schools and community safer and more secure,” Bittner Mazza said.

The publisher of Lower Providence Living, Bittner Mazza previously served as the community relations coordinato­r for Audubon Branch of the Philadelph­ia Freedom YMCA; deputy director of Montgomery County’s division of Emergency

Medical Services and membership ambassador for Midatlanti­c Employers’ Associatio­n.

Bittner Mazza’s civic involvemen­t began at the age of 15 with the local emergency medical services squad.

Since then, she has volunteere­d her time including: the Lower Providence Parks and Recreation Board; Methacton Education Foundation; Audubon Recreation Associatio­n; Montgomery County District Attorney Youth

Aid Panel; Lower Providence Community Center; Boys Scouts of America and American Red Cross among others.

Bittner Mazza earned her bachelor’s degree from Cabrini University. She lives in Lower Providence Township and is the mother of three boys.

The 150th District includes the Montgomery County communitie­s of Collegevil­le, Lower Providence and Skippack, and parts of Upper Providence and West Norriton.
