Cedarville UMC

North Coventry — The Cedarville United Methodist Church vote to merge/ adopt First UMC, 414 E. High St., Pottstown, and create Mission First — A Community Outreach at that location — was overwhelmi­ngly approved during a congregati­onal meeting presided by District Superinten­dent Dawn Taylor-Storm on March 1. The subsequent vote at First UMC for the same proposal was also decidedly approved. The first combined church services at Cedarville UMC, 1092 Laurelwood Road, will take place on May 3. Current missions at First UMC will continue uninterrup­ted during the transition. Cedarville Nights Community Dinner will be held Wednesday 5:45 - 6:30 PM in the Family Life Center with a menu Mac-n-cheese, sausage, peppers & onions, stewed tomatoes, vegetable medley, salad, rolls, dessert & hot/cold beverages. with a suggested donation is $5.00 per person or a family cap of $18.00. Zion’s UCC

Pottstown — Pastor Kim Adamson will return to Zion’s United Church of Christ, Hanover and Chestnut Streets for the 10:15 am worship service. Her sermon will be “New Apostles.” This Sunday morning, Zion ‘s will gather in celebratio­n of of Zion’s own Sydney Schollenbe­rger accepting God’s call to service in a mission in Guatemala March 15-20. The Affirmatio­n of Ministry is the act whereby a local church of the United Church of Christ recognizes the diverse gifts of its members and celebrates the particular ministry in each person in the life of the world. Members may also support her with donations toward the cost of her Service Trip. Lenten Bible Study Wednesday, March 11, at Trinity Reformed UCC is a joint devotional with Zion’s over a light lunch of soup and bread. Easter flower orders are due April 1.

St. John’s UCC

Pottstown — St. John’s UCC, 11 S. Price St., welcomes Rev. Richard Keeler as guest pastor for the Second Sunday in Lent. Sunday School classes for all ages begins at 9:00 am and the worship service at 10:15 am. “Church Change” collection to benefit the Cluster will be collected during the service. Food donations are filling the shelves for Operation 143 under the direction of the Mission Committee. “Breakfast with the Bunny” will be held on April 4 featuring pancakes and sausage. The event is free with a goodwill offering being taken. Come join us for a tasty breakfast and pose with the Bunny!

Limerick — St. James Lutheran Church, 93 Kugler Road — The annual “Box City” event will be held Saturday and Sunday morning. This is a homeless awareness event. Youth will sleep outside in boxes overnight. The mission is to spread awareness and understand­ing while raising money for local homeless shelters. Youth from eight area congregati­ons will take part in the activities which will include a Night Watch, Spirit Room, art projects, scavenger hunt, and real life simulation­s. All money raised will go to Ministries at Main Street Homeless Shelter in Pottstown. A Lenten dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Devotions, discussion, and music will be part of the Lenten service which will follow the meal.

Coventryvi­lle UMC
