Area churches cancel services amid coronavirus outbreak
The following Tri-County Area churches have announced cancellations of services and other events due to the coronavirus pandemic:
St. John’s UCC
Pottstown — St. John’s UCC, 11 S. Price St., in accordance with directives issued by Gov. Wolf, is canceling Sunday School and Worship services until at least the end of March. “Breakfast with the Bunny” is also being canceled. Members with any questions or concerns should contact a member of consistory.
Holy Trinity Orthodox
Pottstown — Holy Trinity Orthodox Church, 1236 Juniper St. — Due to the restrictions concerning the COVID-19 virus, we have cancelled our Spring Bazaar that was scheduled for Saturday, April 4.
Calvary UCC
Barto — The chicken pot pie dinner scheduled for Saturday, March 21, at Calvary United Church of Christ, 1231 Route 100, Barto, has been canceled.
St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran
Boyertown — 45 N. Reading Ave. — Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, all events have been canceled through March 28. This includes the free Saturday evening community meal and worship services. Cedarville UMC

First Baptist Church
Pottstown — First Baptist Church (ABCUSA), 301 King St. — Due to COVID-19, FBC is placing worship information and resources online. Check out our website for how you can stay connected. Although we are apart, fellowship is possible! www.fbcpottstown.org
Trinity UCC
Pottstown — Trinity United Church of Christ, 60 N. Hanover St., has canceled all activities and worship services until March 29. Visit our website at trinityuccpottstown.org or our church’s Facebook page for online worship opportunities.
St. Peter’s Lutheran
Pottstown — St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, 564 Glasgow St., will be closed for the next two weeks in light of Gov. Wolf’s call to avoid large gatherings. Worship and all other activities are canceled through Monday, March 23. 610-323-5044
First UMC
Phoenixville — First United Methodist Church, 865 S. Main St., will be livestreaming Sunday worship services at 10:45 a.m. for the foreseeable future. All gatherings in the sanctuary are suspended. www.fumcphoenixville. org
Pottstown — Zion’s United Church of Christ, Hanover and Chestnut streets, has canceled the One Great Hour of Sharing Special Service this Sunday, March 22. The Wednesday Lenten Devotion and light lunch scheduled March 25 at Trinity with Zion’s is also canceled as are all Wednesday activities and rehearsals at Zion’s. Emmanuel Lutheran
Pottstown — Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 150 N. Hanover St. — Sunday Worship services have been cancelled for the next two weeks due to coronavirus and will resume when able. Midweek Lenten supper and services are also canceled. The Tuesday and Saturday night community meals held at the church and sponsored by Chosen 300 will be held but will be take-out only. Coventryville UMC
South Coventry — Coventryville United Methodist Church, 1521 Old Ridge Road — Due to the restrictions for COVID-19, all activities and meetings at Coventryville Church are suspended through March 31. There will be no in-person worship on March 22. However, Pastor Will Humes will have some sort of digital service available online. Information for that will be posted on the church website: CoventryvilleUMC.org.
Brownback’s UCC
Spring City — Brownback’s United Church of Christ, 640 Ridge Road, is now worshiping through technology beginning this Sunday, March 22, and until further notice. Our pastor will be live-streaming our service and directions on how to watch the service will be mailed to all members. If you don’t have a computer or smartphone, you may call in on any telephone to sten.
Coventry/Warwick Ministerium
The Coventry/Warwick Ministerium has made the decision to cancel the remaining Wednesday Lenten Worship Services that were to be held at various local churches in northern Chester County due to COVID-19 health concerns. The Good Friday service on April 10 is pending.
Connection Church
North Coventry — Connection Church, 962 E. Schuylkill Road — In response to COVID-19 and for the well-being of our community, all in-person gatherings in our worship center are canceled until further notice.
