Honey Brook man waives hearing in girlfriend’s killing
A Honey Brook man accused of killing his girlfriend and barricading himself inside a Chester County hotel has waived a preliminary hearing on criminal homicide and related charges.
Matthew J. Moser, 31, was returned to Lancaster County Prison without bail to await further action in Lancaster County Court following his appearance Wednesday before District Judge Raymond S. Sheller.
Moser is accused of killing Kristin Graham on or about March 1 at her residence in Caernarvon Township, Lancaster County. He was taken into custody following a lengthy standoff March 3 at the Quality Inn Hotel in West Goshen.
According to investigators:
State police were dispatched March 2 about 6 p.m. to a home on Twin County Road, just south of Morgantown, to check on the welfare of an occupant.
Police found Graham dead in an upstairs bedroom. The bedroom door had been shut and locked.
Police obtained information from multiple people indicating Moser’s involvement in Graham’s death. Moser admitted in conversations with relatives to harming Graham. Moser had been living at the Twin County Road home and the Quality Inn hotel in West Goshen.
Troopers tried to arrest Moser in his room in the 141-room hotel. Moser responded by barricading himself inside the room for hours.
A SWAT team was deployed, the hotel was evacuated, and traffic along Route 202 near Route 322 was diverted.
Police eventually arrested Moser in his room.
