Area congregations switch to online services
The following Tri-County Area churches have announced cancellations of services and other events due to the coronavirus pandemic:
Zion’s UCC
Pottstown — Zion’s United Church of Christ, Hanover and Chestnut streets, has canceled the 10:15 am service this Sunday and Pizza and Ping Pong and Handbell and Choir Rehearsals on Wednesday night as well. Pastor Austin Chinault will have a sermon and members will provide music available via computer. Consistory continues to meet weekly via Zoom to keep church business up-to-date. Members are being called regularly to keep in touch to be aware of needs and share news. Remember to like “Zion’s UCC, Pottstown” on Facebook for updates.
St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran
Boyertown — 45 N. Reading Ave. — Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, all events have been canceled through March 28. This includes the free Saturday evening community meal and worship services. Cedarville UMC
North Coventry — Cedarville
United Methodist Church, 1092 Laurelwood Road. While our campus is closed, visit www.cedarvilleumc.org for current announcements and resources. Join us online on Sunday at 10:00 am as we continue the BELIEVE Series with the sermon BE LIKE JESUS: WHO AM I BECOMING? – Peace. The Service replay from March 22 is also available. Additionally there are activities, games and Easter devotionals for children.
First Baptist Church
Pottstown — First Baptist Church (ABCUSA), 301 King St. — Due to COVID-19, FBC is placing worship information and resources online. Check out our website for how you can stay connected. Trinity UCC
Pottstown — Trinity United Church of Christ, 60 N. Hanover St., has canceled all meetings, gatherings, and services, until Gov. Wolf lifts the ban of large gatherings in Pennsylvania. Visit our website at trinityuccpottstown.org to find links to worship opportunities through social media. Pastor Nichole Jackson will lead an online worship service at 9:30 AM on March 29. All are welcome to “tune in” through Trinity’s website.
St. Peter’s Lutheran
Pottstown — St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, 564 Glasgow St., will remain closed to comply with Gov. Wolf’s request to avoid large gatherings. Worship services and all other church activities are canceled through Tuesday, March 31. 610-323-5044
First UMC
Phoenixville — First United Methodist Church, 865 S. Main St., will be livestreaming Sunday worship services at 10:45 a.m. on Facebook for the foreseeable future. Emmanuel Lutheran
Pottstown — Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 150 N. Hanover St. — Sunday Worship services have been cancelled for March due to coronavirus and will resume when able. Midweek Lenten supper and services are also canceled. Coventryville UMC
South Coventry — Coventryville
United Methodist Church, 1521 Old Ridge Road — Due to the restrictions for COVID-19, all activities and meetings at Coventryville Church are suspended through March
31. There will be no inperson worship on March
22. However, Pastor Will Humes will have some sort of digital service available online. Information for that will be posted on the church website: CoventryvilleUMC.org.
Brownback’s UCC
Spring City — Brownback’s United Church of Christ, 640 Ridge Road, is now worshiping through technology until further notice. Our pastor will be live-streaming our service and directions on how to watch the service will be mailed to all members. Coventry/Warwick Ministerium
The Coventry/Warwick Ministerium has made the decision to cancel the remaining Wednesday Lenten Worship Services that were to be held at various local churches in northern Chester County due to COVID-19 health concerns. The Good Friday service on
April 10 is pending.
Connection Church
North Coventry — Connection Church, 962 E. Schuylkill Road — In response to COVID-19 and for the well-being of our community, all in-person gatherings in our worship center are canceled until further notice. St. Luke Lutheran
Gilbertsville — St. Luke Lutheran Church, 35 Wilson Ave. — We invite you to join us for worship at 9:30 a.m. every Sunday. On this Sunday, and more to come, we invite you to worship with us via livestream video from St. Luke. You can find us at stlukegilbertsville.org. This Sunday will be the fifth Sunday in Lent, and we’ll continue our Lenten journey as we focus on the following verse from John 11:7 – “Then after this he said to the disciples, ‘Let us go to Judea again.’” Our weekly activities, meetings, and rehearsals are canceled. Royersford — First United Church of Christ, 367 Washington St., Royersford, continues to have worship on Facebook Live (search for First UCC, Royersford) on Sundays at 11 am.
Christ Lutheran
Barto — Due to the stayat-home order and nonessential services being closed in effect, Christ Lutheran Church will not be having service on Palm Sunday, April 5. There are many area churches that offer viral services as well as services on Zoom. com, so that you can tune into and worship with fellow Christians. St. John’s UCC
Pottstown — St. John’s UCC, 11 S. Price St., in accordance with directives issued by Gov. Wolf, is canceling Sunday School and Worship services until at least the end of March. “Breakfast with the Bunny” is also canceled. Members with any questions or concerns should contact a member of consistory.
Holy Trinity Orthodox
Pottstown — Holy Trinity Orthodox Church, 1236 Juniper St. — Due to the restrictions concerning the COVID-19 virus, the church has canceled its Spring Bazaar scheduled for Saturday, April 4.
