3 more Berks Heim staff test positive
Three more employees at Berks Heim, the countyowned nursing home, have tested positive for COVID-19, the illness caused by the coronavirus, the Berks County Commissioners announced Monday in a news release.
Employees and union leadership have been notified. Two other positive cases were reported previously. One of the two previously infected has recovered and been able to return to work, according to the news release.
The additional staff members who tested positive were tested between Thursday and Saturday; the results were received on Monday.

Precautions include monitoring of temperatures and symptoms, and following recommended guidelines to restrict access as necessary based on recommendations of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and other health standards.
All needed services continue to be provided to the residents.
New residents are admitted to the facility only after an extensive review and approval process and are quarantined in a specific area for 14 days.
Berks Heim continues to follow infection control guidelines to maintain a safe and clean environment for the residents and staff. Precautions are in place for food preparation, delivery and service for the residents, according to the news release.
The county and Berks Heim management are committed to protecting the health of residents and employees, especially during this unprecedented health crisis, the commissioners said in the news release.
