Boscov’s expands digital shopping
EXETER » To encourage customers to keep buying during the coronavirus pandemic, Boscov’s Department Store LLC has expanded merchandise selection on its website.
Chairman and CEO Jim Boscov said in a letter to customers that small work crews have been assembled to process orders.
“The good news is that we’ve expanded the assortment and availability of merchandise on Boscovs.com,” Boscov said. “We’re excited to be able to serve you with the pricing and selection you expect from Boscov’s. We do have limited crews, strictly practicing social distancing, who are working to fulfill your orders, so I hope you’ll be patient if we take a little longer than normal.”
Otherwise, the Exeter Township-based company is still trying to keep in touch with its customer base in different ways.
One way is through a weekly story time via Boscov’s Facebook page. This past Saturday, Melissa Bernstein, founder of Melissa and Doug Toys, read “Arnie the Doughnut.” Other readings are also available online.
Meanwhile, Boscov said the company is planning for the return to in-store sales at all 50 locations, including two in Montgomery County, one in Chester County, one in Delaware County and three in Berks County.
“With the flattening of the curve throughout the country, we’re beginning to see a light at the end of the tunnel,” he said. “But our priority, as it has been from the start, is the safety and well-being of our coworkers and our customers. We’re anxious to see you when we can safely reopen, but for now, we recognize the need to stop the spread of COVID-19, and we support the recommendations of the CDC and other medical and governmental authorities.”
When customers are let back into the stores, they should expect some new procedures for their shopping trips.
“Please know that we’re using this time to establish policies and procedures that will provide you and our coworkers with a safe environment where you can shop comfortably when we’re able to reopen,” Boscov said. “In addition to our normal procedures, we’re put enhanced cleaning procedures in place focusing on frequently touched item like carts, hand rails, door handles and bathrooms.”
