Montgomery County officials report COVID-19 deaths top 300

NORRISTOWN » Montgomery County officials and the Office of Public Health Saturday reported 76 additional individual­s who tested positive and 13 individual­s who died of COVID-19 bringing the countywide total to 4,385 cases and 306 deaths.

“Thanks to the many personal sacrifices made by Montgomery County residents, our new case number from the community have plateaued, but we need to get those numbers to start to trend downward before we begin to relax restrictio­ns,” said Dr. Valerie A. Arkoosh, chairwoman of the Montgomery County Board of Commission­ers. “Please continue to stay home except for essential work or errands. Together, we will beat COVID-19!”

Of the 13 individual­s who died of COVID-19, three had been hospitaliz­ed, nine resided in longterm care facilities, and their ages ranged from 62-years-old to 94-years-old. Of those individual­s, eight were female and five were male.

The 76 positive individual­s are from 28 municipali­ties. Sixty-one municipali­ties have been affected.

A breakdown of today’s reported cases follows:

Montgomery County’s drivethrou­gh COVID-19 testing location on the Central Campus of Montgomery County Community College will be closed on Sunday, May 3, for a safety stand down.

The testing site will reopen for the week on Monday, May 4, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., by appointmen­t only for individual­s that meet the required criteria and as testing supplies allow. No treatment will be given on-site.
