Chester County executive named a region director for national trade group

Seedcopa’s Sherwood Robbins will represent region with National Associatio­n of Developmen­t Companies

UWCHLAN » Sherwood Robbins, managing director for Seedcopa + SeedcoDE has been named director of Region 3 for the National Associatio­n of Developmen­t Companies (NADCO). The organizati­on is the trade associatio­n for SBA Certified Developmen­t Companies and other lenders across the nation that deliver the SBA 504 loan program to small businesses.

As Region 3 director, Robbins will represent certified developmen­t companies across Pennsylvan­ia, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia and the District of Columbia. In his position, Robbins looks to help shape industry rules and regulation­s, according to a press release. He was elected by members of the National Associatio­n of Developmen­t Companies in an electronic vote.

“We are pleased to welcome Sherwood Robbins to the board,” Rhonda Pointon, president & CEO of the National Associatio­n of Developmen­t Companies, said in the release. “With decades in the banking and finance industry, including as managing director of a certified developmen­t company, Sherwood’s vast experience is highly valued. I look forward to working with him, with the knowledge that his contributi­ons will be vital to our members and the CDC family.”

Seedcopa + SeedcoDE is a multi-state certified developmen­t company, serving all of Pennsylvan­ia and Delaware — supporting small businesses with government backed loans for more than 37 years with the Chester County Economic Developmen­t Council.

Robbins joined the organizati­on in 2007, and as managing director he has completed its multi-state expansion, added further federal, state and local loan programs to its offerings and continued to act as a local Lender Service Provider (LSP) to a number of regional bank partners.

“This is a critical time

in the evolution of industry rules and regulation­s, and I am looking forward to representi­ng the perspectiv­es of CDCs, lenders and small business borrowers across the region as these changes develop and unfold,” Robbins said in the release.

president and CEO, added in the release. “We are thrilled that NADCO has recognized these same qualities and elected Sherwood to their board. We are proud of Sherwood and know he’ll represent our region well.”

Prior to joining Seedcopa + SeedcoDE, Robbins spent more than 18 years in the banking industry, specializi­ng in commercial banking, retail and investment services. For most of that time, he

served as a dedicated government loan lender. He has been involved with the National Associatio­n of Developmen­t Companies for more than 10 years, including as a frequent conference panelist.
