New site coming for Careerlink offices

Relocation will be effective Aug. 17

NORRISTOWN » The PA CareerLink Montgomery County office will soon be relocating. Effective on Aug. 17, the office will move to a renovated space within the Human Services Center (HSC) at 1430 DeKalb Street in Norristown, from its current location at 1855 New Hope St.

The new office will be open to the public by appointmen­t only.

The move will enable job seekers to access the health and human services that are offered in the Human Services Center including: Community Connection­s, Senior Services, the Office of Public Health, Veterans Affairs, the Office of Behavioral Health/Developmen­tal Disabiliti­es and Early Interventi­on and the Office of Children and Youth.

“As job seekers face new challenges stemming from the COVID-19 pandemic, having additional services in the same building will help them connect to resources and resolve barriers faster. These mitigation efforts are paramount in promoting the return to familysust­aining employment as soon as possible,” a county press release about the move, stated.

Until the new location opens Aug. 17, CareerLink Montgomery County staff will continue to assist businesses and job seekers with remote assistance. Clients can call 610-270-3429 and follow the menu prompts to receive a return call.

While the majority of previously offered on-site services will be available, access to the Unemployme­nt Compensati­on (UC) phone line will remain suspended until further notice, according to the release.

Among the services available through CareerLink Montgomery County, according to its website, are: General unemployme­nt compensati­on claim guidance and support (answering questions); career counseling; support services which can include direct service referrals, assistance with transporta­tion, supplies/equipment needed for training or employment and other supports needed to successful­ly complete online training and enter employment.

In addition, free online workshops continue to be available and can be accessed through www.pacareerli­nk.pa.gov. To find a schedule of online workshops visit www.montcopa. org/2114/PA-CareerLink-Montgomery-County.

Through PA CareerLink, a partner of the American Job Center Network, job-seekers can search and apply for job openings locally or across the across the Commonweal­th. They can create and upload a resume, and PA CareerLink

will also recommend jobs based on individual preference­s. Employers can create a job-posting and connect with candidates for free, receiving detailed informatio­n about job-seekers when they perform a search, according to the PA CareerLink website.

CareerLink Montgomery County clients are reminded that due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the use of face masks and social distancing are required while in the Human Services Center building, per CDC COVID-19 safety guidelines.
