Man with stockpile of child porn sentenced to 19 years in prison
A Reading man who had over 200,000 images and videos of child pornography was sentenced to more than 19 years in prison, U.S. Attorney William M. McSwain announced Wednesday.
James Millette, 33, was sentenced to 235 months in prison and a lifetime of supervised release by U.S. District Judge Joseph F. Leeson Jr.
Millette also was ordered to pay a total of $66,000 in restitution to the various victims in the images.
He pleaded guilty to charges of possession and receipt of child pornography in February.
“The amount of child pornography seized in this case is stunning,” McSwain said in a news release. “Millette is a depraved hoarder of these illegal images — every one of which was made at the expense of an innocent child, whose life will never be the same.”
Millette, who was wanted in Maine on sex charges, was taken into custody by Berks County detectives in February 2019.
He was living in the 1600 block of North Ninth Street at the time and was charged with sexual abuse of children related to the dissemination and possession of child pornography and violating the uniform criminal extradition act. The investigation into Millette began in October 2018.
According to the Berks County district attorney’s office:
Local investigators received a complaint from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children involving the sharing of child pornography through an internet application.
Detectives learned that a digital file of suspected child pornography had been uploaded to the internet through an I.P. address traced to Millette’s apartment in Reading. The file was later determined to be child pornography.
Investigators obtained a search warrant for Millette’s apartment in 2019 and one of Millette’s computers yielded hundreds of digital images of suspected child pornography.
