UPPER DUBLIN » Sprouts Farmers Market is moving closer to the Sept. 30 opening of its second Pennsylvania store — in Upper Dublin.

As construction continues on the more 30,000-square-foot store located at 2001 Welsh Road, Sprouts will conduct a virtual hiring event to find the staff it needs. Sprouts will host a virtual hiring fair with video interviews on Aug. 19 and 20. Potential team members are encouraged to apply online at sprouts.com/careers.

The healthy grocer’s new location will bring approximately 110 full- and part-time career opportunities to the area, and it is seeking applicants in a variety of areas, including: Department managers, assistant department managers and clerks (produce, vitamins and body care, meat and seafood, deli, grocery, bakery), cashiers, courtesy clerks, backup receiver, administrative coordinator and scan coordinator.

Sprouts’ “Healthy Living for Less” approach to grocery shopping means potential team members should share a passion for healthy eating and the fresh, natural and organic products offered throughout the store, according to a press release announcing the hiring event.

The new Upper Dublin Sprouts is scheduled to open on Wednesday, Sept. 30, at 7 a.m. Among the services the store will offer are grocery delivery and pick-up through Instacart. It is the second Sprouts in Pennsylvania, and follows the 2018 opening of a store in Philadelphia in 2018.

Sprouts Farmers Market Inc. — which is headquartered in Phoenix, Ariz., began operating in 2002 — with the goal of making natural foods accessible to everyone. With more than 350 stores in 23 states and more than 35,000 employees, Sprouts is one of the fastest-growing retailers in the country. The store layout, according to the release, features fresh produce at the center of the store, an expansive bulk foods section and a vitamin department. Sprouts also offers an assortment of healthier products with special attributes, such as plant-based, gluten-free, keto-friendly, and grass-fed.

The Sprouts Healthy Communities Foundation supports programs that teach nutrition education and increase access to fresh, nutritious food. Since its launch in 2015, the foundation has donated more than $10 million to more than 300 nonprofit partners according to information on the grocer’s website.

In addition, Sprouts supports the community through events, volunteerism and its food rescue program — donating unmarketable but still edible produce and groceries to hunger relief agencies. In 2019,

Sprouts stores and distribution centers donated 27 million pounds of food— equivalent to 23 million meals — to those in need.
