PHILADELPHIA » WeaversWay is offering pre-packaged lunch kits to help parents with lunch duty as they navigate the start of another school year.

“So much has changed in our daily lives since the spring, yet it is still important that children have healthy food to fuel them no matter what their day looks like. We understand there are new demands on parents, and we want to continue serving our membership and beyond with easy and affordable options for lunch,” Bonnie Shuman, corporate executive chef, Weavers Way Co-Op, said in an emailed response to questions.

The kits, which can be found at all three Weavers Way stores — in Ambler, Chestnut Hill and Mt. Airy — come in a variety of options of snacks and sandwiches, with prices ranging from $3.99 to $4.49.

They are packaged in plantbased, compostable containers, and each kit includes a balance of protein, fruit or vegetable and carbohydrates— designed to enable children to be able to graband-go within the confines or their own homes.

There is no need to pre-order the kits, according to Shuman, they are a la carte at Weavers Way Co-op’s stores during regular business hours.

“You may also call your local store to have some set aside,” Shuman added.

The lunch box program is open to anyone — it is not necessary to be a co-op member owner to shop at Weavers Way Co-Op or to purchase the lunch boxes, Shuman added.

Lunch options include chicken tenders with macaroni salad, honey mustard and chocolate chip cookie; PB&J on whole wheat bread, macaroni salad and blueberries; ham and cheese on whole wheat bread, mayonnaise, carrots and blueberries; and roasted turkey breast, cheddar cheese on whole wheat bread, mayonnaise, macaroni salad and blueberries.

The snack pack choices include pizza mozzarella with marinara, grilled pita and cookie; hummus with carrots, pita and grapes; and cubed ham, cheddar cheese, grapes and grilled pita.

The Ambler Weavers Way, 217 E. Butler Ave., opened in October 2017.
