WEST CHESTER » The Chester County Bar Foundation, the charitable arm of the Chester County Bar Association, awarded $154,000 in grants to local nonprofit organizations.

All of the grants will help support the foundation’s mission to help county residents understand the legal system, as well as gain access to and benefit from it by providing support for programs and services related to the law.

Patrick McKenna, the foundation president, and the foundation’s board carefully reviewed grant applications from over a dozen local non-profit organizations.

Said McKenna: “Due to the generosity of the sponsors and donors who have given to the Bar Foundation this year, we were able to support a long list of great charitable initiatives.”

Grants were made to: The Chester County Fund for Women and Girls; The Crime Victims Center of Chester County; The Domestic Violence

Center of Chester County; Family Service of Chester County; Friends Association for the Care & Protection of Children; Gateway HorseWorks; Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society; Legal Aid of Southeastern Pennsylvania; SeniorLAW Center; Volunteer English Program of Chester County; and the West Chester Child Access Center.

“We are so fortunate to have the sponsorship support for our Key Gala fundraising event, as well as the commitment to our Foundation Fellow Program, which allows our foundation to support the many worthwhile programs and services within our community,” said Matt Hollidy, executive director of the Bar Association.

This year, due to COVID-19, the Bar Foundation was unable to hold their Key Gala in person. Fortunately, it was still able to raise over $60,000 during avirtual auction. The Key Gala’s presenting sponsor, Key Bank, was instrumental in the fundraising success.

Other top sponsors included Fox Rothchild LLP; USI Affinity; the law firm of MacElree Harvey; and WSFS Bank. All told, the event had the support of almost 20 county law firms and local businesses.
