Thelma Mae (March) Kellar, wife of Richard Kellar, of Sanatoga Center, died Monday, Dec. 14, at the center where she resided the past year. She celebrated her 87th birthday on December 3.

Born in Pottstown, she was the oldest of six children of the late Roy W. and Ruth P. (Leighton) March. She was a lifelong resident of Pottstown, growing up on Walnut Street and later living at various homes in the North End, most recently at Yorkshire Apartments where she resided until moving to Sanatoga Center a year ago.

Known affectiona­tely as “Winkie” to her close friends and family, she was a 1951 graduate of Pottstown High School. She had perfect attendance, never missing a day of school at Jefferson Elementary and Pottstown Junior and Senior high schools.

Thelma worked at several stores and businesses in Pottstown, most notably The New York Store, where she met lifelong friends and her future husband.

Thelma and Richard shared 59 years of marriage and were always together, including at Sanatoga Center where they shared a room. They traveled extensivel­y in the eastern U.S., and Thelma particular­ly enjoyed visits to Branson, Mo.

She was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church and several social organizati­ons including The German Club, Pottstown Elks Doe Club, Upper Pottsgrove Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary, and the New Hanover chapter of AARP.

In addition to her husband, Thelma is survived by two brothers, Robert March and his wife Kathy, Scottsdale, AZ; E. William March and his wife Nancy, Douglassvi­lle; three sisters, Carol, wife of Raymond Cocci, North Coventry; Shirley, wife of Rod Hostetler, Upper Pottsgrove; Bonnie Brandel, Pottstown, and several nieces and nephews.

She was predecease­d by her parents and aunt, A. Thelma “Mamie” Leighton, with whom she shared many childhood memories.

Beloved by her friends and family, Winkie will be missed and remembered always.

Houck & Gofus Funeral Home, 955 N. Charlotte St., Pottstown, is handling arrangemen­ts. A memorial service will be held at a future time and place to be determined.
