WILMINGTON, DEL. » Iron Hill Brewery and Restaurant has launched a prepared meal program featuring made from scratch meals that customers can order, take home and reheat. The company implemented the Ready, Set, To-Go program earlier this month, as a way to expand offerings to meet its customers’ needs for weekly meal planning.

The program was launched in response to restrictions on indoor restaurant dining due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic and the end of outdoor dining season. It debuted a little more than a week before Gov. Tom Wolf halted indoor dining across the Commonwealth through at least Jan. 4. Take-out and curbside pick-up are still allowed.

“Ready, Set, To-Go prepped meals combine the value and from-scratch deliciousness that Iron Hill fans expect with the ease and convenience of take-out so you can enjoy at any point in the week or time of day,” says Kim Boerema, CEO of Iron Hill. “Iron Hill has always been about gathering together to share a meal and now it is even easier to enjoy in the comfort of your home.” Here’s how the program works: Customers can pre-order complete, individual meals that they can reheat at home, choosing from monthly rotating chef’s features or by building their own by selecting protein, vegetable, starch, and sauce. The meals should be ordered at least three hours in advance.

The meal kits start at $10 per order. The build your own options can be crafted using elements guests have seen in menu dishes. The chef’s features will be exclusive to the Ready to Heat program.

To order, visit www.ironhillbrewery.com, select a location and navigate to the takeout option and select Ready to Heat Meals. The program is available at all 17 Iron Hill locations, with the exception of Iron Hill Center City.

According to the company, the program is best for anyone who wants to manage meal planning for the week without effort, including parents balancing work and virtual learning, or consumers

working on portion control or that don’t like to cook.

While Iron Hill offers take out, the Ready, Set, To-Go program is different, because it satisfies the need for meal planning over a couple of days, rather than just one meal.

“The average price is lower than a typical entrée, the rotating selection of chef’s features aren’t available on the menu, and the build your own meals give our guests the opportunity to build meals best fit for their lifestyle, as well as get creative with their favorite Iron Hill flavors,” an emailed response to questions stated.

This is Iron Hill’s first attempt at offering individual ready to heat meals. In the spring, when restaurants shut down the first

time, the company offered Craft Kits, which offered a similar meal with the exception that things were delivered unprepared and the meal was cooked at home.

The new program has been in the planning stages since early fall.

There is no membership fee or minimum purchase required.

Iron Hill Brewery & Restaurant was founded in 1996 in Newark, Del. by home brewers Kevin Finn, Mark Edelson and restaurateur Kevin Davies. It has grown to 17 locations in Pennsylvania, Delaware, New Jersey, and South Carolina. Area locations include: Media, West Chester, North Wales, Phoenixville, Chestnut Hill, Ardmore, Huntingdon Valley and Newtown.
