S-F official to take over top spot in Antietam
The Antietam School District has chosen its next leader.
The school board announced Monday that it had unanimously approved the hiring of Heidi Rochlin as superintendent.
Rochlin will take over the position on July 1. She will replace Jeffrey Boyer, who is leaving to take over as superintendent of the Ferndale School District in Cambria County on Jan. 1.
Tracy Detwiler, Antietam’s director of business services, will serve as acting superintendent until Rochlin joins the district.
Rochlin currently works in the Spring-Ford School District in Montgomery and Chester counties. She serves as curriculum supervisor for kindergarten through 12th grade math, science and music, as well as principal of Spring-Ford Cyber Learning.
Rochlin previously worked as a teacher in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia and the School District of Philadelphia and in supervisory positions in the Exeter School District.
In a statement from the school board about Rochlin’s hiring, the board said it was confident that she will positively impact the district.
“Based on the comprehensive search process, the board believes that Dr. Rochlin will continue the tradition of excellence at the Antietam School District and successfully serve the students, staff and community,” it reads. “Dr. Rochlin is a collaborative leader who believes in fostering a district-wide culture where all teachers, students and staff feel supported and confident in their roles as part of the greater community.”
Rochlin will be paid a base salary of $135,000. Her contract will run through June 30, 2024.
The Antietam School District serves about 1,100 students in Mount Penn and Lower Alsace Township.
