New president takes over at Chester County Bar Association
WEST CHESTER » During the annual Chester County Bar Association meeting, members unanimously voted to install John Fiorillo as the organization’s president and Sam Cortes as the president of the Chester County Bar Foundation, according to a press release.
John Fiorillo is a partner at the West Chester law firm of Unruh Turner Burke & Frees and is the first member of the longtime Chester Countybased firm to serve as the bar association’s president.
“I am honored to have earned my peers’ confidence and trust that I am the person to lead the CCBA during these unprecedented times,” said Fiorillo.
He has been a member of the bar association for over 25 years and has served on numerous committees, most recently as vice president.
Said Fiorello, noting the closure of the association’s offices because of the COVID-19 pandemic, “Once it is safe to do so,
I look forward to serving and engaging, in person, our terrific membership and the great community we serve.”
Cortes is a partner at the firm of Fox Rothschild and served as the bar association’s president last year, helping to steer the organization to a successful year, notwithstanding the difficult and unique challenges it faced in 2020.
Last year, the bar foundation proudly awarded over $150,000 in grants to more than 20 worthy local nonprofit organizations. In his statement, Cortes said, “I am eager to get to work. The foundation has a rich history of positively impacting and making a difference in our community, and I am excited to continue this important work this year.”
Bar Association Executive Director Matt Holliday stated, “Our members and community will be well served with our new leadership. Both incoming leaders have an outstanding record of community and professional success. I look forward to working with them as we further our mission to help Chester County residents understand and gain access to our legal system.”
