Richard H. Lawrence passed away unexpected­ly, yet peacefully at his home on February 28, 2021. He was the husband of the late Elizabeth A. (Myers) Lawrence.

Born in Warwick Township in 1929, he was a son of the late Charles and Mildred Russell Lawrence, the second son of five boys.

He graduated from Warwick School, Knauertown, PA in 1947.

Richard entered the Army in 1947-1949 where he met Elizabeth Ann Myers at a social dance.

They married in May 1949 and had two daughters, and were married 65 years.

Richard owned and operated a constructi­on company and built homes. Later, he became a Commercial non-union Contractor. He built the first geodesic dome home in the Philadelph­ia area and was published in Better Homes and The Philadelph­ia Bulletin. Among other accomplish­ments, he built the Penn State Berks Campus Library, remodeled prisons, colleges, and schools. He had the first concrete pump in the tri-state area in the early 1970’s.

Flying was one of Richard’s favorite hobbies. He built his own Cub airplane and owned a Cardinal and Cessna airplane. He enjoyed boating, hunting, fishing, and bagged his last deer in 2018.

A member of St. Peter’s Baptist Church since he was a year old. He also was a member at Mount Pickering Lodge, High 12, The Elks in Pottstown, Tall Cedars in Spring City and Coventryvi­lle Trout Club.

He was a wonderful father, mentor, and dearly loved.

Surviving are two daughters, Sharon wife of Fred Nettles and Connie wife of Dave Gantert. One brother, Charles Lawrence and four grandchild­ren, Jennifer Pilon, Scott Pilon, John Wadsworth and Richard Wadsworth. Two great grandchild­ren, Kysa Schafer and Sabreen Pilon. He was predecease­d by one grandson, Anthony Vigone and brothers Paul, Kenneth and David.

Masonic funeral service by Mount Pickering Lodge will be held at 1:00 pm followed by a Celebratio­n of Life service on Monday, March 8, 2021 at the Schumacher & Benner Funeral Home & Crematory, 359 King St., Pottstown. Officiatin­g will be Reverend Leonard Lewis and Reverend John Kolle. Burial will be private with military honors at Mount Carmel Cemetery, Pottstown. The family will greet relatives and friends from Noon until 1:00 pm on Monday at the funeral home.

Those attending must follow CDC guidelines with social distancing and wearing a mask.
