SPRING-FORD 67, WEST CHESTER RUSTIN 22 » The Rams continued their run toward the post-season Wednesday by rolling over the Golden Knights in non-league action.
While Lucy Olsen put up a game-high 17 points, the SF defense limited Rustin to 13 first-half points as it scored 40. Abbey Boyer and Emily Tiffan chipped in with nine apiece in a Ram lineup that got points from 10 players.
BOYERTOWN 47, DOWNINGTOWN WEST 44 » The Bears made a big early lead hold up Wednesday as they outlasted the Whippets in a non-league matchup.
With Abby Kapp (22 points) narrowly claiming game scoring honors, Boyertown saw a 27-15 halftime advantage shaved to one (35-34) going into the fourth. Fiona Hovey added 10 to the Bears’ offense, and Maddie Konnick eight. PLYMOUTH WHITEMARSH 37, POPE JOHN PAUL 32 » The Golden Panthers saw a close non-league game with the Colonials slip away in the second half Wednesday.
Outscored in a 10-4 third quarter, PJP went from being one (17-16) down at the half to seven (27-20) heading into the fourth. While they had no double-figure scoring — Kayla Ciuba was high with nine, followed by eight from Amelia Kennedy
— the Panthers got statistical support from Kallan Bustynowicz (three blocks, 10 rebounds), Kennedy (five steals), Tess Crossan (eight assists) and Ciuba (seven rebounds).
Boys basketball
PERKIOMEN SCHOOL 72, GEORGE 56 » The Panthers matched up with George School for the second time in as many weeks Wednesday, and the outcome was the same.
Perkiomen marked its Senior Night festivities with a victory over George. The team’s “elder statesmen” put their mark on a great career.
Cam Brown led the way with 20 points, knocking down 10-of-12 from the charity stripe. Three-year starter, and Princeton Basketball commit, Philip Byriel finished the night with 18 points, drilling six shots from 3-point range.
George School cut the lead with in, seven late in the half, but a three pointer from Can Dalli helped Perkiomen create separation. The Turkish post-grad chipped in 10 points on the night.
ABINGTON 51, METHACTON 41 » The Warriors couldn’t fight their way out of an early hole, losing to the Ghosts in non-league play Wednesday.
Methacton was led by Cole Hargrove’s 15 points while Brett Byrne and Jason Price each chipped in with eight. The Warriors end the regular season with a 10-6 record.
