Berks’ Wayne Hoffman headlines WCU gala
The 38th Annual Presidential Scholarship Community Gala presents illusionist Wayne Hoffman April 1, at 7p.m.
West Chester University’s 38th Annual Presidential Scholarship Community Gala — the 2021: G.A.L.A. presents a virtual performance by mentalist and illusionist Wayne Hoffman next Thursday, April 1, at 7 p.m.
Hoffman, a Berks County resident, will provide an evening of reality-bending mysteries in a show called “Distant Deceptions,” an interactive event that involves the participants at every moment. Participants will have their minds read, their futures predicted, and they will witness magical moments on the screen and through social media.
Tickets cost $50 for a household log-in access to the event, available at http://go.wcufoundation.org/events/gala.
Hoffman is recognized as one of the top mentalists in the world. He has toured the globe with his stage show “Mind Candy” and his motivational keynote, “The Power and Potential of the Human Mind.” He is also the author of the bestselling motivational book “Mind Candy.”
Hoffman’s passion for the mysterious was sparked at a young age and led him to study the art of magic. Later, through extensive self-studies in sociology, psychology and human behavior, he was able to develop the foundation of his skills today. His show is a high-energy presentation that combines mind-reading and visual magic. The audience experiences seemingly supernatural phenomena in a fun and upbeat way.
Each year, the gala draws more than 300 members of the community to an event that is dedicated to the continued academic success of West Chester University students. Since its inception in 1983, the benefit has raised more than $1.2 million for West Chester University students through a renewable, four-year Presidential Scholarship, which is designed to provide financial assistance to students who have demonstrated a commitment to academic excellence.
