Bernard C. “Bernie” Johns, 79, of Phoenixvil­le, PA and Cape Coral, FL passed away on Sunday, April 4, 2021 at home. He was born on March 6, 1942 in Norristown, PA, son of the late Bernard and Margie Ann (nee Gavin) Johns.

Bernie graduated from Villanova University and remained a Wildcats fan. He built a lifelong career in logistics with the Defense Logistics Academy in South Philadelph­ia. Mr. Johns represente­d the Department of Defense on the PBS documentar­y “Investment in Excellence”. Bernie received recognitio­n and many awards for innovation in military supply chains and was inducted into the Order of Saint Martin.

Bernie was an avid reader and enjoyed traveling, and days at the beach, and visiting our national parks. Bernie believed in the importance on maintainin­g family ties, and for thirty years he and his wife Kathleen hosted an annual family reunion for his siblings and cousins. His family and friends could always rely on Bernie for support and guidance in any situation. Above all, he was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfathe­r, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his wife of 42 years, he is survived by 4 children: Daughter, Dawn Marie Colket; Daughter, C. Anne Dopp; Daughter, Lynn Dopp; Son, Joseph husband of Jennifer Dopp. 6 Grandchild­ren, Lloyd Colket, Meredith Colket, Samantha Armstrong, Madison Dopp, Gabriel Dopp, and Dawson Dopp. Brother and sisters, Susan Tague, Kevin Johns, and Sally Pezzoli.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Maryann Martin, daughter, Sandra Beth Armstrong, brothers, Edward Johns and Richard Johns, and sisters, Margie Ann Gambone and Pamela Cassidy.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Mass in St. Basil the Great Catholic Church, 2300 Kimberton Road, Phoenixvil­le, PA 19460 on Thursday, April 8, 2021 at 11:00 am.

A Private Burial Service will be follow in St. Ann Cemetery.

A viewing will be held in church on Thursday from 9:45 am to 10:45 am.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Mr. Johns memory to Paoli Cancer Center, 255 W. Lancaster Avenue, Paoli, PA 19301.
