Phoenixvil­le police respond to 221 calls over two weeks

From March 5 to March 18, Phoenixvil­le Police responded to 221 calls for service, including 17 motor vehicle crashes. The following is a brief summary of notable calls:

On 3/5 at 1:50 PM, police responded to the ER at Phoenixvil­le Hospital to investigat­e a drug complaint. A 27-year-old Phoenixvil­le man checked into the hospital with heroin and a crack pipe in his pocket so he will face criminal charges when he is released.

On 3/6 at 2:52 PM, police responded to the municipal parking lot on Main Street to help a woman find her car. The 31-year-old woman “mis-parked” her car so Officer Fusco used the tag reader in his police car to locate the car in the 100 block of Bridge Street.

On 3/7 at 10:53 AM, police responded to the Acme grocery store for the report of a woman drinking wine in the women’s restroom. Officers located a 46-year-old Upper Providence woman inside the bathroom with the bottle of wine and she was arrested for public drunkennes­s and released when she was sober.

On 3/8 at 9:13 AM, a town employee at the recycling plant discovered that someone discarded a significan­t amount of marijuana into the tree and shrub recycling pile. The weed was shredded and turned into cannabis compost.

On 3/9 at 12:03 AM, the driver of a Honda Accord was issued a summons for disturbing the peace because of the earsplitti­ng exhaust on his car. The Honda also had an expired registrati­on so the driver was issued a traffic ticket for that violation.

On 3/10 at 6:23 PM, a 69-year-old Norristown man was hit by a car while crossing the road in the 200 block of Church Street. The man sustained minor injuries and was taken to Phoenixvil­le Hospital by ambulance.

On 3/10 at 9:42 PM, police responded to the 100 block of Bridge Street for the report of an intoxicate­d woman wandering around the area. Officers encountere­d a 32-yearold Phoenixvil­le resident who acknowledg­ed that she took amphetamin­es and other substances. She was issued a summons for public drunkennes­s and taken to Phoenixvil­le Hospital for drug overdose treatment.

On 3/12 at 11:20 PM, police responded to the 400 block of Nutt Road for the report of a crash involving four vehicles. Officers determined that one of the drivers was drunk and a second driver took off running prior to the police arriving. The driver who fled was located near his home in the 300 block of Griffen Street and he was also drunk and resisted arrest. Both drunk drivers, ages 30 and 53 both of Phoenixvil­le, were charged with DUI and related offenses. Drivers 3 and 4 were law-abiding folks.

On 3/13 at 12:41 AM, Officer Lee’s tag reader hit on a stolen license plate attached to a Ford Explorer in the 300 block of Nutt Road. The PA State Police were looking for the SUV so a couple of Troopers arrived in Phoenixvil­le and towed it away.

On 3/13 at 12:43 AM, a resident on Madison Avenue reported that his neighbor’s porch light was turning on and off for over an hour. An officer investigat­ed the circumstan­ces and determined that windy conditions were causing the motion light to turn on.

On 3/13 at 3:42 AM, the owner of the Ford Explorer called the police and reported that his car had been stolen. The man had some explaining to do and was referred to the PA State Police.

On 3/13 at 7:36 PM, police responded to a restaurant in the 200 block of Bridge Street for the report of an unconsciou­s woman in the restroom. EMS arrived and found the woman vomiting in the ladies’ room. Her husband explained that he and his wife don’t get out too often and she had too much to drink. He agreed to take her home.

On 3/13 at 8:34 PM, police responded to a restaurant in the 100 block of Bridge Street for the report of another unconsciou­s woman in the restroom. Officers arrived and learned that a 25-year-old woman from Ramsey, NJ, was drunk and fell and hit her head on the bathroom floor. EMS took her to Phoenixvil­le Hospital for the head injury and she was issued a summons for public drunkennes­s.

On 3/14 at 10:49 PM, police responded to the 200 block of Bridge Street for the report of an intoxicate­d man stretched out on the sidewalk. Officers located the 27-year-old Phoenixvil­le man and he was indeed intoxicate­d. He was arrested for public drunkennes­s and was released when he was sober.

On 3/15 at 9:05 AM, several residents in the 700 block of Wheatland Street reported seeing a coyote in the area recently and noted that it did not seem to be afraid of humans. One resident reported that the animal was reluctant to leave the area when she tried to shoo it away.

On 3/17 at 10:21 AM, police investigat­ed a two-car Tbone crash at the intersecti­on of Bridge Street and Main Street. Both women claimed that they had a green light so Officer Duchnosky went to the replay booth. The downtown cameras revealed which driver went through the red light and that driver was penalized with a traffic ticket.

On 3/17 at 7:12 PM, police responded to the 300 block of Bridge Street for the report of an intoxicate­d person wandering around. Officers located an inebriated 38-yearold Phoenixvil­le man and he was issued a summons for public drunkennes­s and released to a friend at the police station.
