Two Boyertown men accused of stealing a generator from the Colebrookdale Railroad and shoplifting electronic items from a Walmart in Berks County are in the county prison following their recent arrests.

Taylor D. Weisner, 26, of the 100 block of East Philadelphia Avenue was taken into custody Tuesday. Arrest details were unavailable.

He was committed to Berks County Prison in lieu of a total of $5,000 bail to await a hearing following arraignment before District Judge Ann L. Young in Reading Central Court.

Caernarvon Township police charged Weisner and co-defendant Michael A. Pierce Jr., 24, same address, on Aug. 3 with shoplifting $800 worth of electronic merchandise from the Walmart near Morgantown on July 23.

Eastern Berks Regional police subsequently charged the pair with receiving stolen property and theft by unlawful taking. Police said the pair stole a generator valued at $2,000 from the tourist railroad property at 100 S. Chestnut St. in Boyertown on April 29.

Pierce was arrested in Philadelphia on Aug. 11 and was jailed in lieu of $50,000 to await a hearing.

According to Caernarvon police:

On July 23 between noon and 1:55 p.m., two males arrived in a pickup truck at Walmart, 100 Crossings Boulevard. They were seen selecting various merchandise. Weiser is recorded on security camera footage discarding the cart before Pierce grabs the same cart and pushes it past the checkouts.

A loss prevention association tried to stop the men as they left the store, but they ignored her and were seen loading the pickup with the stolen merchandise before leaving.

Police said there were several warrants out for both men.
