Where’s the beef? At Taste of Hamburg-er Fest

The 18th Taste of Hamburg-er Festival will be held Saturday from 10a.m. to 6p.m. in Hamburg, Berks County.

The following events are planned for this weekend throughout the region:

• The 18th Taste of Hamburg-er Festival

will be held Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. in Hamburg, Berks County. The festival, which typically draws thousands of visitors, will feature burger eating competitio­ns, over 30hamburge­r stands, four stages of non-stop musical entertainm­ent, numerous contests, children’s activities, local art and handmade crafts, and more. The Beer and Wine Patty-O and the Budweiser & Burgers Beer Garden will remain open until 7p.m. Admission is free and parking costs $5in four designated areas. • The Ludwig’s Corner Horse Show & Country Fair

is set for Saturday through Monday at the show grounds, 5 Nantmeal Road, Glenmoore. The equestrian competitio­n runs throughout the weekend, rain or shine. • Judas Priest kicks off its “50Heavy Metal Years Tour” on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at Santander Arena, Reading. The tour supports the highest charting album of Priest’s career, “Firepower,” which peaked at No. 5on the Billboard 200chart.

Opening will be Sabaton. Judas Priest formed in 1970 in Birmingham, England, and throughout the ’70s were responsibl­e for helping trailblaze metal with such classic songs as “Sad Wings of Destiny” (1976), “Sin After Sin” (1977) and “Hell Bent for Leather” (1978), as well as one of the genre’s top live recordings “Unleashed in the East” (1979). During the ’80s they became global arena headliners on the strength of such all-time classics as “British Steel” (1980) and “Screaming for Vengeance” (1982), and were one of the first metal bands to be embraced by the then-burgeoning MTV. • Fathom Events presents a 30th anniversar­y screening of the actionthri­ller

“Backdraft” on Sunday and Wednesday in select theaters. The film, directed by Ron Howard, is filled with some of the most awe-inspiring fire sequences ever filmed. Kurt Russell and William Baldwin star as the two feuding McCaffrey brothers carrying on a heroic family tradition as Chicago firefighte­rs. When a puzzling series of arson attacks is reported, the McCaffreys are forced to set aside their difference­s to solve the mystery surroundin­g these crimes. Scott Glenn, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Rebecca DeMornay, Donald Sutherland and Robert DeNiro also star. • The Long’s Park Art Festival

will be held Friday through Sunday in Long’s Park, Lancaster. The festival features over 200 artists from 30 states and Canada, who converge on the park to create an outdoor art gallery complete with musical entertainm­ent, food, wine and craft beer. Hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. Three-day passes cost $18and a one-day pass costs $12at longs-park.org. Proceeds benefit the nonprofit Long’s Park Amphitheat­er Foundation and their continued efforts to bring art, culture and music to the Lancaster community.

• Rivet: Canteen and Assembly, Pottstown, presents

a free outdoor concert by Sponge and Big Green Limousine on Saturday from 5to 9p.m. in its rear parking lot. The concert coincides with the Red Horse Motoring Club’s Pottstown Nights Car Show, with special guest Paul Teutul Jr. from the reality TV series “American Chopper.” The concert will move indoors if it rains. There will be food trucks onsite.

• Get the Led Out takes over the Sellersvil­le Theater this weekend with its tribute to Led Zeppelin. Shows are scheduled for 8 p.m. today, 5 and 8 p.m. Friday, 8 p.m. Saturday and 8 p.m. Sunday. Tickets range from $59.50 to $80 at st94.com. Singer-songwriter Todd Snider is scheduled to appear next Thursday at 8p.m.
