Donald A. “Don” Bauer
Donald A. “Don” Bauer, 65 of Perkiomenville, passed away unexpectedly during the recent storm on September 1, 2021. His family will be eternally grateful for his heroism in saving his wife, Kate, during a flash flood.
Don was a graduate of Pottstown High School and an ongoing student in the school of life. He had several careers including factory worker, landscaper, woodworker, and for the last 15 years, he drove school bus for Quigley Bus Company in the Boyertown School District.
He loved volleyball and the friendships he formed there. He played for many years and earned the nickname “Mortuary Don” because he “killed” the ball. He also coached volleyball and soccer. He was a proud father, investing time and attention in his children and their interests.
He was the beloved husband of Kate (Ernst) Bauer and father of Darby and Sophie Bauer. He was the eldest son of Victor and Pearl (Eagle) Bauer of Pottstown.
Don is survived by his wife, two children, and father. He is also survived by his brother, Gary and wife Kathy Bauer of Pottstown, mother-in-law Kitty Ernst of Perkiomenville, and nephews David Bauer, Mike Bauer, Brian Bauer and Nick Ernst.
Celebration of Don’s life on October 17th, 2pm to 4pm, will be at the family farm. Contact djb90088@ gmail.com for details.
Instead of sending flowers, please remember Don by putting others first. As he would say, “Get the damn vaccine and wear a mask!” Give to your favorite charity in his name or to his memorial volleyball tournament (https://www.gofundme. com/f/don-bauer-memorial).
