Elizabeth M. Clinton (Betty) 95, of Harrisburg, formerly of Pottstown, passed away peacefully on October 2, 2021 at Homeland Center. She was born in Pottstown, the daughter of the late Christian and Estella (Oakes) Phillips. Betty was predeceased by her husband, Shirley, son, James, grandson, Jared, brothers Franklin and Robert.

Betty was a lifelong active member of the First United Presbyterian Church of Pottstown. After graduating from Pottstown High School, class of 1944, she traveled to Washington, DC, to work at the FBI. During that time she met the love of her life, Shirley, to whom she was married for 60 years. After returning to Pottstown, she began working as a medical assistant to Dr. Joseph Zukoski. She enjoyed working there for 30 years.

Betty and Shirley loved to travel. Some of their memorable trips included a 5 week cross country trip, Austria, Hawaii, and Mexico. Always a daredevil, Betty celebrated their 50th anniversary by parasailing as Shirley watched from the beach.

Betty was an enthusiastic dancer, accomplished gardener, and she enjoyed crafts of all kinds. What she loved most was spending time with family, especially the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Many happy summers were spent in Rehoboth Beach, DE, where she loved to swim.

Betty will be sorely missed by her brother, Dick Phillips (Shirley Supplee) of DE, daughter, Sandra (Thomas) Troxell of Harrisburg, daughter, Mary Ann Clinton of Allentown, grandchildren, Joseph (Lindsay) Perkins, Jamie Perkins (Jon Spehar), Jenna Perkins (Zack Hankerson), Timothy (Kristen) Troxell, Todd Troxell (Lindsay Conroy), great-grandchildren Trent and Kennedy Perkins, Samuel and John Troxell, and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at Homeland Center, especially the Ellenberger Unit, for the loving care they gave Betty. Thanks to their excellent devotion to her, Homeland became her home.

A celebration of life will be held in the near future. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the First United Presbyterian Church, 750 N. Evans Street, Pottstown, PA 19464 or Homeland Center, 1901 N. 5th Street, Harrisburg, PA 17102.
