Sarah Ann (Mogel) Davidheiser, widow of Raymond Davidheiser, passed away in the early morning hours on November 29, 2021, at the age of 92.

Born on August 30, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Lucile (Knipe) Mogel. With the exception of a brief period of time living in Dover, OH, she spent her entire life in the Pottstown area.

A 1947 graduate of Pottstown High School, Sarah was a member of the color guard in the high school band and was one of the original Melody Maids, a girls select chorus at the high school. In the later years she would be instrumental in organizing

Melody Maids reunions, where the ladies would gather and do what they loved-sing.

It was at Pottstown High School that she met and later married her high school sweetheart Raymond. They married on December 29, 1947 in Elkton, MD and over the next seven years had three children.

Sarah was a stay-at-home Mom who was always involved in volunteering. Whether it be a Girl Scout leader, Cub Scout den mother, or President of the PTA at the Jefferson Elementary School, she believed in service and giving. Sarah also found time to volunteer as a Sunday school teacher and sing in the church choir.

Once all her children entered school, Sarah went to work part time at Boyer’s Shoe Store, where she worked for the next thirty years. The part time job led to full time management and eventually ownership of the store. In partnership with her husband Raymond and two other business people, Sarah owned and ran Boyers until her retirement in 1994. During that time, she served as the President of the Downtown Pottstown Business Association, the predecessor of PDIDA.

After retirement, Sarah remained active in the business sector as a volunteer for S.C.O.R.E., but she and Ray still found time to take bus trips across the country. As grandchildren entered the picture, they became the new focus in her life. Ray and Sarah celebrated 63 years of marriage before Ray’s passing in 2011.

Sarah was quite the incredible lady and she will be sadly missed by her children Linda Price (William) and Robert Davidheiser (Karen), along with grandchildren Austin (Amy), Kate, Morgan, Martin, and Brian Davidheiser (Rachel), Daniel Price, and Michelle (William) Neitz, her eleven

great- grandchildren, her daughter’s-in-law Sharon Davidheiser and Brenda Davidheiser, her brother Richard Mogel, Waldoboro, ME, and her five nieces and their families. In addition to her husband, Sarah was predeceased by her son William.

Honoring Sarah’s wishes, there will be no viewing or visitation. Graveside services will be private at the convenience of the family. Donations in her memory may be made to the Pottstown Education Foundation at 230 Beech Street, Pottstown, PA 19464 or https://foundationpottstowned.org/donate/.
