Jalen Hurts says he’ll ‘be ready to go’ against Jets
PHILADELPHIA » The Eagles are taking Jalen Hurts’ rehab from a sprained ankle one walkthrough at a time.
Citing the toughness of Hurts, head coach Nick Sirianni said Wednesday he was “hopeful” the youngster would be in the lineup Sunday when the Eagles oppose the New York Jets at MetLife Stadium.
“He’s feeling better every day,” Sirianni said. “We’re excited that we’re going to have him out there at walkthrough today. He’ll be taking reps at walkthrough. Will Jalen take every rep this week? I don’t know how that’s going to play itself out yet. But when he’s not in there, Gardner (Minshew) will be in there.”
Hurts on the other hand is already in game-day mode as he anticipates extending his streak of 16 straight starts this weekend.
Hurts addressed questions about his health as efficiently as he escaped the Giants’ pass rush. He said the ankle was “fine,” that “it won’t affect him” and “I’ll be ready to go.”
Another interesting storyline to keep in mind is that Hurts has played hurt before and considers fighting through injuries a worthy challenge.
“Just tune in,” Hurts said with a smile.
Eagles great Donovan McNabb, another tough quarterback, had one of the greatest passing games of his career playing on a fractured ankle in the 2002 season, throwing four touchdown passes in a rout of Jake Plummer and the Arizona Cardinals.
Hurts is coming off the worst game of his NFL career, having thrown three interceptions in a 13-7 road loss to the New York Giants. Don’t be surprised if he unloads on
