Jefferson’s Timko named CACC Player of the Week

Men’s basketball

ERIK TIMKO (METHACTON) » The freshman Timko tied his career high and led the Rams with 34 points on 11-of-18 shooting (61.1%) with two 3-pointers in a victory at Goldey-Beacom that helped him garner CACC co-player of the week and rookie of the week honors Monday. He went 10-for-10 at the line. Timko added eight rebounds, one assist, and one block. It is his second straight CACC Rookie of the Week award and third of the season. Timko has started all eight games for Jefferson (6-2) and is averaging a teambest 21.9 points per game.

STEVEN HAMILTON (PHOENIXVIL­LE) » In his first full season of college hoops, the Lycoming College sophomore guard is leading his team in scoring (12.3 ppg) and assists (4 apg) as the Warriors are out to a 5-4 start Hamilton reached double figures in six straight games before finishing with nine points, six rebounds and five assists in a win over FDUFlorham on Saturday.

MATT DADE (EPISCOPAL ACADEMY/ COLLEGEVIL­LE) » The West Chester sophomore wing is averaging a near double-double with 12.4 points and nine rebounds per game for the 5-2 Golden Rams. Dade was the PSAC East Player of the Week on Nov. 29 after he scored 23 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in a win over Chestnut Hill before following with 13 points, 10 rebounds and six assists against Holy Family.

MANNY CLARK (POTTSGROVE) » The Gwynedd Mercy sophomore guard earned his second Atlantic East Conference (AEC) Men’s Basketball Weekly Honor Roll on Dec. 6. Clark is averaging 13.1 points and 5.3 rebounds per game for the Griffins, reaching double figures in seven of his team’s nine games. He recorded 10 combined steals during a three-game stretch from Nov. 20-Dec. 6.

Women’s basketball

LUCY OLSEN (SPRING-FORD) » The freshman is starting at point guard for Villanova, which is 5-5 this season. Olsen has started all 10 games and is averaging 7.8 points per game. She had a career-high 22 points in a Dec. 1 win over Lehigh.

KYLIE WEBB (BOYERTOWN) » The senior guard is averaging 5.0 points per game and has started

all 10 games for Salisbury, which is 8-2 this season. GWYNEDD MERCY » Kelly Owens (Perkiomen Valley) and Elise Sylvester (Pope John Paul II) are the thirdand fourth-leading scorers for Gwynedd Mercy, which is 5-5 this year after an 8067 win over Manhattanv­ille on Saturday where Sylvester had 14 points. Owens is currently at 11.3 ppg while Sylvester, who has started all 10 contests, is at 9.6 ppg.

Wrestling

MATT WILDE (BOYERTOWN) »

The Kutztown senior placed second at 125 pounds at the Bob Quade Cyclone Open hosted by Centenary University on Sunday. Wilde, who carried an unbeaten 6-0 record into Sunday, nearly won his second tournament of the fall. He got by Middlesex CC’s Zain Ahmad in the second round with a 20-5 technical fall at 6:38 and gained back-toback decisions in the quarters and semis to clinch his spot in the finals. Wilde was tied with Army Prep’s Ethan Berginc into the third period, but Berginc got the decisive takedown in the final minute to pull out a 3-1 win.

Women’s indoor track

KATELYN BERNOTAS (CHESTER SPRINGS/OWEN J. ROBERTS) » The Messiah College long distance runner was named the MAC’s Athlete of the Week for women’s indoor track. Bernotas won the one mile run at the Dickinson DuCharme Invitation­al with a MAC-best time of 5:36.97. Her time is the 12th-best in Division III, and was 12 seconds faster than the runner-up finisher.

Men’s indoor track

ANTHONY DEFUSCO (DOUGLASSVI­LLE/DANIEL BOONE) » The Kutztown jumper won both the long jump and triple jump, posting Pennsylvan­ia State Athletic Conference qualifying and top-10 program marks, to highlight the Kutztown University men’s track & field team Saturday at Lehigh University’s Fast Times Before Finals in Bethlehem.

Fusco went 6.91 meters (22-8) in the long jump and 13,97 meters (45-10) in the long jump. He was one of nine Golden Bears who earned PSAC qualifying marks; among them was Elijah Hildreth (Norristown/Norristown), who was third in the 60-meter dash at 7.04 after clocking a 7.03 in preliminar­ies.
