Josephine (Josie) A. Kurtas, age 91, wife of the late James G. Kurtas, of Limerick Township, passed away on Thursday, May 19, 2022 in the Brandywine Senior Living, Phoenixvil­le, PA surrouned by her loving family. Born on April 21, 1931 in Norristown,

PA, she was a daughter of the late James and Mary (O’Dwyer) Cassidy.

Josie was a longtime member of St. Clare’s Catholic Church, now St. Teresa of Calcutta, where she was an active parishione­r participat­ing in the STC Seniors and Women’s Guild. She was proud of the fact that the current church sits on the property that she grew up on and where her wedding reception was held. She was also a member of the Ladies’ Auxiliary of the Linfield and Limerick Fire Companies, where she volunteere­d her time for many years.

Although she spent several years as a bus driver for Saks Bus Company and Custer Bus, she devoted much of her time and energy into ensuring the best for her family as a homemaker. She cherished the time she spent with them, whether it be the time relaxing at the family home in Rehoboth Beach, DE, or attending the sporting events of her grandchild­ren and supporting them in every aspect of their lives.

Josie is survived by four children, Kathleen F. (Gary) Bauer of Pottstown, PA, Johanna M. (Stephen) Owsiany of Limerick, PA, Barbara J. (Michael)

Brasher of Collegevil­le, PA, and James S. (Kathleen) Kurtas of Pottstown, PA; fifteen grandchild­ren and ten great-grandchild­ren; five siblings, Eileen Flack, James Cassidy, John Cassidy, Maureen Kelius, and Frances Kelly; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one son, Michael P. Kurtas, and three siblings, Mary Alice Nugent, Margaret Nesmith, and Kathleen Cassidy.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral mass at St. Teresa of Calcutta R.C. Church, 256 Swamp Pike, Schwenksvi­lle, PA on Friday, May 27, 2022 at 12:00 pm. Officiatin­g will be Rev. Paul C. Brandt. Burial will be held in the St. Aloysius Cemetery, Pottstown, PA. Friends will be received from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm Thursday evening, May

26, 2022 at the Cattermole - Klotzbach Funeral Home, 600 Washington Street, Royersford, PA, and again on Friday morning from 10:00 am - 11:15 am at the funeral home. Memorial contributi­ons may be made in her name to the St. Teresa of Calcutta
