Carol A. (Yarnall) DiSabatino, 86, of San Antonio, TX widow of John J. DiSabatino, died peacefully on February 7, 2023 at her home.

Born February 29 Leap Year 1936 in Phoenixvil­le Hospital, PA she was a daughter of the late Karl T. and Grace (Young) Yarnall.

Mrs. DiSabatino was a 1954 graduate of Phoenixvil­le High School, a 1956 graduate of Katharine Gibbs School, N.Y. and also attended Penn State University. As wife of a United States Air Force career man, Mrs. DiSabatino raised their three children in Japan, Turkey, England, Washington State, Texas, Delaware, PA, and moved 12 times in a span of 22 years.

Carol was self-employed as a crafter for 10 years selling “Carol’s Critters” at shows beginning at Hemisfair ‘68, and then in the tri state area of PA, NJ, and Delaware. Prior to that she had been employed by the former Cloth World of San Antonio, Texas.

An avid art collector, she also collected pottery and many Southwest Indian artifacts. Her various hobbies included knitting, crocheting, sewing, playing piano, reading, and traveling, especially to Arizona. Her favorite spectator sports were tennis, football, Profession­al Bull Riding, and eventually the Spurs! However her ultimate favorite pastime was shopping at thrift stores looking for bargains and searching for treasures to add to her art collection­s.

Carol was a member of Freedom Lutheran Church, Upper Providence Township, where she served as a social secretary for 8 years. She was a member of Spring Ford Country Club, the Penn State Alumni Associatio­n, the former Upper Merion Cultural Center, the Philadelph­ia Woodturnig Center, The Berman Art Museum at Ursinus College, the Human Ecology Action League, and the Historical Society of he Phoenixvil­le area.

As the DiSabatino­s became empty nesters they also became Texas “snowbirds” spending winters in a San Antonio condo to avoid the PA snow. Then after John retired from his second career with Liberty Travel, they became full time Texas residents in 2018.

Carol accumulate­d numerous friends during her many years of travel and maintained contact with them most of her life. She especially enjoyed getting together with her former High School friends known as the “Lunch Bunch”.

She was preceded by her husband of 64 years on April 5, 2021, and also by a sister, Cecilia J. (Yarnall) Snyder in 1972. She is survived by two sons, John of San Antonio, TX; Michael of Royersford, PA; one daughter, Jill of Robstown, TX; and three grandchild­ren, Krysta, Sofia, and Dominic.

Her ashes will be interred in Morris Cemetery, Phoenixvil­le, PA at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributi­ons may be made in her name to The Historical Society of the Phoenixvil­le Area (checks payable to HSPA) 204 Church St. Phoenixvil­le, PA 19460 or to Meals on Wheels San Antonio 4306 N.W.
