MxCC appoints new Health Information Management Coordinator
MIDDLETOWN >> Middlesex Community College recently welcomed Jill Flanigan, MLS, MS, RHIT, to the college’s academic community. Beginning this fall, she will serve as the new, fulltime assistant professor and coordinator for the Health Information Management program.
Before coming to MxCC, Professor Flanigan, a resident of Waterford, was the Health Information Management program coordinator at Bristol Community College in Fall River, MA; adjunct faculty member at Three Rivers Community College; and former adjunct at Manchester Community College. Prior to her career in education, she served as an HIM director and in other medical coding/health information management positions at Connecticut Children’s Medical Center, Westerly (RI) Hospital, Natchaug Hospital in Mansfield Center, Conn., and Lawrence & Memorial Hospital, New London, Conn.
Flanigan earned a master of science in data analytics from Southern New Hampshire University; a master of library science from Southern Connecticut State University; a bachelor’s in general studies from the University of Connecticut; and a certificate in health information technology from the American Health Information Management Association. She has been certified as a registered health information technician (RHIT) since 2001, and has served on multiple committees of the American Health Information Management Association.
