An Open House is set for 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 7. Tour the Wheeler Health & Wellness Center and receive free blood pressure and body mass index screenings.
Cholesterol: the “Good” and the “Bad” will be held at 2 p.m. Sept. 2. Subrina Razah, RN, nurse educator, will discuss management of cholesterol and triglyceride numbers through diet and lifestyle changes to reduce the health risk of a heart attack and stroke.
All events are held at 10 N. Main St., Bristol. Registration is not required. For more information, contact the Wheeler Health & Wellness Center at 860584-6555.
Wheeler Health & Wellness Center, 10 N. Main St., Bristol, is open to the public Monday and Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Walk-ins for primary care services welcome. First-time walk-in behavioral health evaluations are available 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Dental services provided by a registered dental hygienist are available. Call for an appointment.
The Wheeler Health & Wellness Center provides an array of behavioral health and medical health care services to individuals and families, including: primary and walk-in care for all ages, well-child care and immunizations, physical examinations, women’s health, integrated behavioral health care, onsite preventive dental care and coordination and referral for dental care and specialty health care service, and tobacco cessation services and support.
Services are available in English and Spanish. Medicaid, Medicare and commercial health insurance are welcome for primary care services, and a sliding fee scale is available.
No patient will be denied health care services due to an individual’s inability to pay for services.
Dental services insurance coverage varies. Additional funding for the Wheeler Health & Wellness Center is provided by Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield, the United Way of West Central Connecticut and the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), an operating division of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
