FLOWERS, JAMES FRED

-

James Fred Flowers, 84, moved peacefully to his final home in Heaven with his family by his side, on December 23, 2016 in the Hospice unit of Middlesex Hospital. Jim graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in Middletown, where he was an outstanding football and baseball player for the Wildcats. He enjoyed attending the yearly Wilson and Middletown High School Thanksgiving day football games. Jim spent his entire life in Middletown except for his military service as a Staff Sergeant from 1951 to 1955. He served in Japan and Korea and also played baseball for the Far East Airforce in Japan. After his military service, he began his 36 year career at Pratt and Whitney Aircraft as an Electronics Apprentice and then a Systems Engineer. He was an avid fan of the UConn Husky women, New York Yankees, and the New York Giants. He enjoyed a friendly rivalry with his daughter during the twice yearly Giant and Cowboy Football games, and semi-weekly card games or lunch with his best friend, Ed McGann. He was the best father anyone could have. Fun, loving, stern when he needed to be, and always there when you needed him. He was usually the life of the party. Jim was fortunate to have traveled to many different countries and throughout the United States with the love of his life, Vivian. Jim leaves his wife, Vivian, daughters Mary Ann, Noreen, and Sharon Flowers, grandson, Stephen Flowers, and his favorite cat, Mike.
