Party on New Year’s Eve with great music

This week is centered around New Year’s Eve events. Many venues are helping to bring in the New Year with parties and festivitie­s. Blues Beat has listed a number of events that made themselves known to us. Some are blues and some are at blues venues.

Check the schedule for more shows and the blog for more details. All promise to be fun.

Get ready for the big night by heading out Friday to Legends Sports Bar, which is hosting Hash Brown & Friends. This is a local favorite and draws an enthusiast­ic crowd. If you want to head over to LaVita Gustosa, catch the Basically Blues Band.

On New Year’s Eve, Black-Eyed Sally’s has The Mighty Soul Drivers, helping you start your New Year off with a night chock-full of rockin’ soul dance numbers, down-inthe-alley testifying and some funky blues.

41 Bridge Street Live is hosting A Great Gatsby New Years Eve Party, ringing in 2017 the 1920s way. It is a Great Gatsbythem­ed party with a four course dinner and music by Eight to the Bar, a fitting band.

Café 9 also has a Great Gatsby theme for New Years Eve — a 2017 Burlesque Cabaret hosted by Dot Mitzvah. It is New Haven’s longest running burlesque cabaret. Lipgloss Crisis is throwing the celebratio­n, featuring acts and performers right out of the 1920s. Expect burlesque, magic, sideshow, cabaret, games and much more.

Infinity Hall Hartford has the greatest soul, horn band in the world for two shows: Tower Of Power, one of those rare bands who can claim to be the real deal, 100 proof, agedto-perfection. You can catch an early show and get home for your favorite TV. Brian Dunne will open both shows at 5:30 and 9:30 p.m.

Moving up to Infinity Music Hall Norfolk, kick off 2017 with Kal David, Lauri Bono and the Real Deal. As the former lead singer/lead guitarist of the Fabulous Rhinestone­s, lead guitarist of John Mayall’s Blues Breakers and Etta James’ Band, David is considered by many to be the finest blues singer/guitarist. Local legends, The Joint Chiefs warm up what promises to be New Year’s Eve to remember. The Joint Chiefs open at 9 p.m. and Kal David, Lauri Bono & The Real Deal take the stage at 11 p.m.

Friday, Al Anderson & the Floor Models with Jim Chapdelain­e, Lorne Enteress and Paul Kochanski will be there.

The Palace Theater at Stafford Springs has Max Creek’s New Year’s Eve Show. Long great draws, the Creek has fans everywhere.

The FTC Warehouse brings in Robert Randolph and the Family Band, while The Mohegan Sun Wolf Den has two shows with the Boogie Wonder Band (8 & 11 pm). Sunday, Amy Helm will be there.

Rock in the New Year with Mitchell Leighton and the Front Row Band at the RedZone Grille in Plainville. They are offering a free ride home to anyone who needs it. Come ring in the New Year in a safe and fun environmen­t.

The Old Well Tavern has the talented band of Tim McDonald, Ray Morant, Matt Zeiner and Liviu Pop; Simsbury.

Bill’s Seafood features Four Barrel Billy and keeps the fun going Sunday with Johnny & The East Coast Rockers, and Thursday, The Modeans.

Addison Station will be at the Tipping Chair Tavern for New Year’s Eve. On Thursday, it’s The Amish Outlaws — don’t know how to label them, but they sound interestin­g.

At Maple Tree Café’s New Years Eve Party, Dangerous Play will provide the music. And Cambridge Brew House has Bruce Gregori.

The Hungry Tiger has Supergreen Big Band and Rhythmic Circus Bigger Band and a Breakfast Buffet.

Sully’s Pub is doing a Low Key New Years Eve.

The Fez has Happy New Year, Hangover Helper, Brunch for Dinner on Sunday.

At the The Main Pub, the Michael Cleary Band will do New Year’s Eve party, while The Stomping Ground has Hobo Heroes and Rat Ruckus. On Thursday it is Erin Harpe’s Country Blues Trio.

The Acoustic Café gets ready for New Year’s Eve with a Friday show featuring Jay Stollman with special guest Matt Schofield. Then Saturday, celebrate with Hayley Jane and the Primates.

The Harbour House brings in local favorite Chris Leigh Band on Saturday. The Mystic Horns play there Saturday.

The Outer Space celebrates with Steve Rodgers & Seth Adam, while The Shamrock Pub & Grill plays at The Zoo.

The Knickerboc­ker Café moves their Open Mike to Friday, for Prime Time. Then Saturday, The Duke Robillard Band Jump’n Blues Party will bring in the New Year; Westerly. (401) 315-5070
