Yale cruises to win over Mitchell

The Yale men’s basketball team had five players score in double figures with Noah Yates and Jordan Bruner leading the way with 14 points each in a 102-46 non-league win over Mitchell in New Haven on Saturday.

Miye Oni added 13 points and Sam Downey and Eric Monrow added 12 each for the Bulldogs (8-5).

Santiago Domenico and BertramGre­gory Mack had 11 points each for Mitchell (0-9). QUINNIPIAC 81, MANHATTAN 72 >> At Hamden, freshman guard Mikey Dixon tied career highs with 23 points and seven assists, freshman guard Peter Kiss set career highs with 20 points and 10 rebounds and senior forward Donovan Smith tied a Division I school record with seven blocked shots to lead the Bobcats to a win at the TD Bank Sports Center.

Quinnipiac improved to 6-9, 3-2 in the MAAC. Manhattan fell to 5-11, 0-5. BENTLEY 78, NEW HAVEN 74 (OT) >> At Waltham, Mass., Michael Bourke led four Chargers in double figures with 20 points in a losing cause in a Northeast-10 Conference game. Danny Upchurch added 17 points and nine rebounds for the Chargers (7-7, 2-6). Ryan Richman led the Falcons (6-7, 3-5) with 28 points and seven rebounds. SOUTHERN CONNECTICU­T 73, STONEHILL 64 >> At Easton, Massachuse­tts, Michael Mallory scored 21 of his game-high 24 points in the second half for the Owls in their Northeast-10 Conference win. Jerry Luckett Jr. added 19 points and six rebounds for the Owls (11-4, 7-1).

Women’s basketball

NO, 17 BENTLEY 73, NEW HAVEN 55 >> At Waltham, Mass., Alexandria Kerr tied a career-high with 21 points, but the Chargers (2-11, 1-7) fell to the Falcons in a Northeast-10 Conference game. Lauren Green led Bentley with 19 points. The Chargers are 2-11, 1-7. QUINNIPIAC 64, CANISIUS 53 >> At Buffalo, New York, Jay Fen had 16 points and Paula Strautmane added 14 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Bobcats to their fifth straight win. The Bobcats are unbeaten in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference at 6-0 and 13-3 overall. The Golden Griffins fell to (3-12, 1-7).

Women’s hockey

NO. 8⁄8 QUINNIPIAC 3, DARTMOUTH 1 >> At Hamden, sophomore Randi Marcon, senior Taryn Baumgardt and sophomore Melissa Samoskevic­h each scored to lead the Bobcats to their ECAC win. The Bobcats move to 15-5-4, 8-3-2 while Dartmouth is 2-12, 1-8. RENSSELAER 2, YALE 1 >> At Troy, New York, just 46.8 seconds away from a three-point weekend on the road, the Bulldogs came away with a heartbreak­ing ECAC Hockey loss. The Engineers scored the game-winning goal on a deflection by forward Jamie Grigsby, who redirected a blast from just inside the blue line by defenseman Hannah Behounek for the winner. The loss spoiled a solid outing by the Bulldogs, who outshot the Engineers 32-20. Sophie Veronneau scored for Yale (5-9-3, 3-6-1).
