KEEP AN EYE ON

• Diallo chooses UK: Hamidou Diallo, the highly-rated small forward out of Putnam Science Academy who had been recruited heavily by UConn the past few years, chose Kentucky over UConn at a press conference in Queens on Saturday. Diallo said he’ll enroll at UK next week. UConn spent an inordinate amount of time recruiting Diallo, and it was down to UK and UConn at the end. As of Wednesday, he was in the process of applying to both schools, and UConn was still holding out hope as late as Friday afternoon. Diallo told reporters he made his decision a couple of days ago, and that UConn was right there until the end. • Taylor made: UCF’s best player, B.J. Taylor, returned to the team in its win over ECU on Tuesday night after missing seven games with a thumb injury. Taylor, a sophomore point guard, scored 19 points off the bench, including a huge 3-pointer with the shot clock running down late. He leads the Knights in scoring (16.5ppg) and assists (4.5). Taylor missed all of last season due to injury, and his return has been a welcome one for UCF. “It makes a world of difference for them,” said UConn coach Kevin Ollie. “He’s the point guard, the head of the snake. He keeps them organized and he makes sure that Tacko (Fall) gets the ball.” • First time for everything?: UConn is 8-1 all-time against UCF and has never lost to the Knights as AAC opponents or at home. The Huskies have won five straight, with their lone loss coming in the 2011Battle 4Atlantis tournament.
