MIDDLETOWN >> A man was arrested this week after a two-car crash in which one of the drivers, who starred in a Facebook music video with gang members waving guns, was allegedly carrying a loaded pistol and a large amount of marijuana, according to a report.

On Jan. 9, police called to a motor vehicle accident at the back of Forest City Wine & Spirits on Main Street, found a Toyota Camry that was “jammed up against” a BMW 330i, police say. Inside were two male passengers, including Dejevon M. Green, 21, of Inverness Lane.

The officer said when he approached the Camry, both men moved in a “downward motion” which appeared to be an effort to reach for a weapon or hide something.

The report said the car’s interior smelled strongly of marijuana and when asked who drove the Camry, Green admitted it was his car and he was the driver. Another officer arrived and identified Green as the man in a Facebook video he had seen who was rapping alongside “multiple known Middletown-area Blood gang members brandishing firearms and flashing gang signs.”

A canine search of the vehicle turned up a loaded five-shot Interarms .38 special revolver wrapped in a black ski mask under the driver’s seat. Authorities say they found a bag containing 12.4 grams of marijuana packaged for sale, three other bags of marijuana weighing 22.4 grams, 4.4 grams and 6.4 grams, respectively, a digital scale, a backpack containing an unknown white powder (which later tested negative for drugs) and two other ski masks.

Police, who said the total amount of marijuana confiscated was 45.7 grams, or 1.61 ounces, indicated that it was high-grade and if sold at $20 per gram, the total street value would be $914.

Green’s statement said he drove to Middletown to pick up his friend and as he was backing out of the lot, his car got stuck. He allegedly admitted that the gun was his and he didn’t know how the backpack had gotten into his trunk.

Police say Green does not have a pistol permit.

Green is charged with possession of marijuana, possession with intent to sell and distribution of controlled substances within a school zone, use of drug paraphernalia, carrying a pistol without a permit and having weapons in a vehicle. He was held in lieu of a $10,000 bail and was due in court Tuesday.
