Area college students achieve recognition
IOWA FALLS, IOWA >> Marcus Deren of Middletown was among 136 students named to the fall 2016 dean’s list at Ellsworth Community College. To be eligible, full-time students must have taken 12 or more credit hours during the semester and have earned at least a 3.5 gradepoint average in classes.
Elmira College
ELMIRA, NEW YORK >> Sarah Hughson of the Moodus section of East Haddam has been named to the Elmira College dean’s list for the fall 2016 term. Full-time students who achieve a gradepoint average of 3.60 or higher at the end of a term are placed on the roll.
Ithaca College
ITHACA, NEW YORK >> Cromwell native Nicholas Gianni, a television-radio student at Ithaca College, was inducted into the Oracle Honor Society. Founded in 1928, Oracle is a historic society that recognizes academic excellence. New students who achieve a gradepoint average within the top 10 percent of undergraduates in their academic school after completing two full semesters are invited to be members.
